Route description

The Vottovaara through crossing connects the southern woodland ascent with a northern finish on the other side of the mountain. Guardian Stone comes first, followed by central boulders and the Amphitheatre’s edge. After a rocky lookout, the path follows the eastern branch to Stairway to the Sky, Stone Gates and the northern Pyramid platform. The last section leaves that lookout for a separate forest finish. It shows the progression from southern woodland through rocky plateau to northern views without returning in the same direction. Agree the external start approach and onward exit before setting out. The national park publishes this through route among its permitted options; obtain a permit beforehand.

On the east, observe Stairway to the Sky from its safe side, well away from the drop.
