Route description

Upper Karakol Valley leads into a sterner part of the Terskey Ala-Too, towards Gastello’s pass slopes. Woodland walking gives way to snow, scree and glaciated surroundings. The circuit returns to the same valley area but demands different preparation from riverside walks. For an experienced group, its appeal is a close encounter with Karakol’s high country, where choosing the line and weather becomes part of the journey.
