Route description

Jeti-Oguz first reveals itself as a mountain valley, with Kok-Jayik pastures and spruce-covered slopes softening the surrounding peaks. The way then rises into the Teleti valley and reaches the saddle beyond which lies the Karakol side of the Terskey Ala-Too. Crossing the ridge lets you experience how differently neighbouring valleys can unfold. Ala-Kul Lake is the journey’s culmination. This variant approaches its western shore over Panorama Pass, returning through the Kurgak Tor valley past Sirota Hut. Water enclosed by rocky slopes changes the feeling of the entire walk: it is a place to set down your pack and linger over the lake basin. The journey brings familiar names of eastern Kyrgyzstan together before returning towards the upper Jeti-Oguz valley. It calls for camping experience, confident navigation and readiness for mountain-pass weather.

Nearby

Seven Bulls and Broken Heart rocks stand below this mountain journey’s start, near the resort approach; allow a separate stop. Altyn-Arashan’s hot springs require a different exit across the pass north of Ala-Kul and are outside this returning itinerary.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Destination Karakol describes minibuses and shared taxis from Ak-Tilek Bazaar to Jeti-Oguz Resort. Its leaflet warns that some services stop at Jeti-Oguz village, below the resort. Confirm the final stop and the onward approach to Kok-Jayik with the driver; check current service numbers and times rather than relying on the old leaflet. This variant finishes above the settlements, so arrange the complete valley exit beforehand.
By car
The driving approach runs from Karakol towards Jeti-Oguz Resort and up the valley. Agree access to the upper camps with a local driver based on road and bridge conditions. Teleti and Panorama are walking passes; arrange collection in the accessible valley rather than beside the lake.
Parking
Arrange long-stay parking with your host, yurt camp or driver before the trek. No specific guarded car park for this itinerary has been established. Do not leave a vehicle on the mountain road expecting to reach it immediately after descending from a pass.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 5892 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Teleti and Panorama require confident footing on mountain slopes; fog and snow may conceal the continuation. Check river crossings, bridges, snow patches and overnight places before departure. Crossing Teleti again on the return still involves pass hazards. Make retreat decisions before entering exposed slopes if weather deteriorates, and agree an alternative exit through the Karakol valley with your group.

How much time to allow

С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
This is a multi-day trek with a separate approach and exit from the upper valley. Establish camps on the Jeti-Oguz and Karakol sides, a lake day and the return across Teleti, adding a weather reserve. Published five- and seven-day Ala-Kul tours often finish in Altyn-Arashan; their schedules do not apply to this returning variant.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose a summer window, usually July to early September, according to actual snow conditions. Destination Karakol identifies summer as the main mountain trekking season. Early departures require checking snow on Teleti and Panorama; late-season trips need greater allowance for cold nights and shorter days.
