Route description

The Belca approach follows a wooded valley towards Annahüttensattel, then the border ridge in the direction of Kepa. Watercourses and woodland gradually give way to rocky upper slopes. The change from the Belca valley to the open Karawanks boundary gives this passage its character; the ending remains short of Kepa summit. At the editorial check, PZS continues to list the Belca–Anina Hut approach as closed. Blasting and earthworks have taken place in the rockfall area; do not bypass barriers. This guide explains the direction for a future permitted outing, although departure from Belca should wait for official reopening. Other Kepa approaches have their own beginnings and need independent planning.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - No With a dog - No By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data Do not plan this approach while the closure remains in force. Once reopened, experience of steep mountain paths, steady footing and energy for the full descent are needed.

Nearby

Kepa summit lies beyond this approach’s ending and requires separate continuation. PZS identifies approaches from Dovje and Austria; treat them as independent outings with their own condition checks.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
A direct service to the mountain beginning is unconfirmed. While the Belca approach is closed, avoid arranging transport to cross the barriers. After reopening, establish access to Belca and return travel.
By car
Belca lies beside the valley road, although arriving in the village does not authorise entry to the closed approach. PZS asks visitors to respect work-area barriers. Plan vehicle arrangements for the mountain day after official reopening.
Parking
PZS previously published new parking beside the Belca sawmill, although parking does not override the path closure. Check its current conditions and use an authorised space. Parking on the upper ridge is unconfirmed.

SurfaceGravel 45%, Fine gravel 12%, Dirt 1%, Unknown 41%.
Риски Do not cross the closed rockfall and work area or bypass it on unmarked slopes. A steep wooded ascent, rocky ridge and descent remain after reopening. Treat barriers as access restrictions requiring a changed plan.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 4 h 50 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Postpone the approach until official reopening. For a future visit, keep a complete mountain day free with a separately planned descent; a confirmed full duration for this version is unavailable. Add the summit approach only along a selected permitted path.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose the season after checking reopening. Dry snow-free conditions are easier on the upper ridge; snow and wet stone change the difficulty. A favourable forecast does not remove work-area restrictions.
