Route description

From Mala Mojstrovka’s summit, this variation descends the northern Hanzova path. The departure is already on the mountain, requiring a separate ascent before the equipped rock descent. Cables and demanding steps call for concentration; pause on stable ground to enjoy the surrounding Julian Alps walls. The selected passage finishes on a northern mountain connection, with the return to Vršič planned separately. Choose it with relevant experience, a checked direction of travel and a complete mountain exit.

Nearby

The southern Mala Mojstrovka approach and onward return through the Vratca area require separate mountain connections. Slemenova Špica and Vršič’s huts are additional outings. The Hanzova path on Prisojnik is a different route; its historical closures do not establish conditions on this Mojstrovka descent.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Summer services between Kranjska Gora and Bovec reach the lower Vršič road approach. The published 2026 timetable ends in September and does not establish October operation. Arrange current transport separately, then walk up to the summit departure. A further mountain passage to the road is needed after the northern descent.
By car
Reach Vršič by an authorised road and choose a separate Mala Mojstrovka ascent beforehand. The vehicle remains below. The northern finish is likewise in the mountains, so include the complete pass return. Follow current signs and check access after snowfall.
Parking
Vršič Public Parking follows September2026 arrangements and is free until year-end according to the official notice. Entry through the right lane depends on available spaces. Private hut parking may have separate conditions. Lower parking does not replace the summit ascent or onward exit after the northern descent.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски The northern Hanzova path crosses demanding alpine rock. Descending requires equipped-route experience, a helmet, harness and suitable via ferrata set. Confirm the direction and possible ascending groups with competent local support before departure. Postpone in snow, ice, wet weather or thunderstorms. The short fragment is unsuitable as a first training route.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 30 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
A verified time for the complete selected descent is not established. Add the summit ascent, delays on narrow sections and onward pass return to the mountain day. Ordinary Hanzova ascent timing cannot automatically be used for this opposite direction. Preserve a margin for a safe change of plan.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose snow-free dry rock and settled weather during the summer mountain period. The northern face can retain snow and ice longer than neighbouring slopes. An open autumn road or pleasant valley weather does not establish conditions on the rock above.
