Route description

This outing explores the upper part of Prisojnik’s southern Slovenian Path. From a mountain junction above the slopes, it climbs rocky ground towards the upper approach before returning close to its starting junction. Open hillside and loose rock gradually replace the grassy passages. The summit remains a separate objective, while the road at Vršič lies below the start. Include this version in a carefully planned mountain day with its own approach and descent.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
Prisojnik’s southern side reveals the scale of the rocky massif without requiring every famous equipped route to be part of the visit. The appeal lies in moving above open slopes and watching the grassy mountain belt give way to harsher upper terrain. It suits confident mountain walkers who enjoy choosing their steps carefully and pausing for the surrounding panorama.

Nearby

Prisojnik’s summit, rock windows and neighbouring saddles need their own approaches. The large Front Window belongs to other ascent variants and is outside this walk. Huts at the road pass of Vršič can be included before the ascent or after descending; check their operation separately.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
The seasonal bus between Kranjska Gora and Bovec can provide arrival at the road pass of Vršič. Published 2026 calendars end in September and do not establish October departures. A separate walk is needed to reach the high start and descend afterwards. Check a new timetable or prearrange a transfer.
By car
Plan road arrival at Vršič followed by a separate mountain approach on a permitted path. Vehicles cannot reach the start of this upper outing. The pass road separates the upper public parking lane from transit traffic; follow current signs. Check the road and mountain approach separately after early snowfall.
Parking
Public Parking at Vršič Pass opened in September2026 and is free until the end of 2026 according to the official notice. Entry depends on available spaces. A separate mountain approach follows parking; there is no parking at the upper starting junction. Private hut parking has its own conditions.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Uneven stones and loose rock on the southern path demand confident foot placement. A helmet helps protect against falling stones. Ice, strong wind and poor visibility require appropriate mountain experience. Connections with other upper paths can involve different terrain and need a separate decision. Check PZS closure notices before travelling.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 2 h 57 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Reliable timing for this particular upper outing and return has not been established. Timing for a complete ascent from Vršič does not apply: the start is already in the mountains and the summit is outside the selected walk. Calculate the approach and subsequent descent first, then allow extra time for rough ground and turnarounds. Finish the entire programme before dark.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose settled, snow-free conditions with dry rock and clear visibility. Rain can make individual passages slippery even in warm weather. Autumn brings short days and early ice; transport operation needs a separate check. Winter conditions require an independent mountaineering plan.

What to bring
