Route description

Untere Goldey is a small waterfront passage in Unterseen, beside the Aare opposite urban Interlaken. It runs from its quiet northeastern departure towards Haberdarren and Beatenbergstrasse. The river is the reason to linger, with its bank directly adjoining the walk. Make it a brief pause between other town activities or include it in a longer Unterseen outing.

Unterseen’s old centre is outside this short passage. Höheweg and Höhematte in Interlaken also require separate walking. Add them to a town day if desired; Untere Goldey itself does not visit the lakes, castles or mountain viewpoints.

Interlaken West provides a rail arrival, followed by a separate walking approach to Untere Goldey. Check your train and permitted town connection to the start. BLS has announced an eight-week Interlaken West–Interlaken Ost rail closure from 19 October 2026, with replacement buses. Account for this when travelling after that date; the announcement does not itself close this short town walk.
By car
Reach authorised parking near Beatenbergstrasse in Unterseen and continue on foot. Untere Goldey serves local accesses; unrestricted through-driving along the waterfront is not established. Haberdarren parking is nearer the endpoint. A separate short approach reaches the departure from there.
Parking
Haberdarren is paid municipal parking near the endpoint. Unterseen’s page lists a 90-minute limit for ordinary parking; check current signs and tariffs on arrival. Choose parking for the complete plan if adding a museum, lunch or longer walk. A free space cannot be assumed.
