Route description

This CT1 version brings mountain Montenegro together in a substantial walking journey. From eastern Žabljak it enters Sinjajevina, then crosses the Tara/Mojkovac area towards Bjelasica. Šiško Lake appears among the upland pastures: the path reaches its shore, a welcome place to pause after sustained walking. Trešnjevik then connects the passage with Komovi, while farther south the small St Elijah church stands beside the path at Carine. The final part crosses Kučki Maglić towards the Žijovo katuns and ends near Rupa Ljakina. This is an independent mountain undertaking shaped by weather, passes and supplies organised beforehand. Black Lake near Žabljak and Bukumirsko Lake at the southern end of the historical CT1 are outside this version.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - No With a dog - No data By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data Buses reach Žabljak, but the journey ends in a remote Žijovo katun area. It requires multiday mountain experience, independent supplies and checked overnight arrangements. Isolated roads do not make the complete passage a bicycle route.

Nearby

Black Lake near Žabljak can be visited on a separate outing before the journey. Bukumirsko Lake lies beyond the endpoint near Rupa Ljakina and needs an additional plan. Komovi summits and other Bjelasica lakes should not be automatically added to this passage.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceGravel 18%, Improved surface 16%, Dirt / grass 11%, Unknown 52%.
Риски The main difficulty is cumulative effort across several mountain regions with remote exits. Fog complicates orientation on pastures and rocky passages; thunderstorms restrict travel on exposed ground. Check water beforehand: a mapped katun or mountain hut does not confirm a source, accommodation or assistance today.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Time for the route 45–60 h
With stops | 60–80 h Plan 7–9 days of walking for the selected passage from eastern Žabljak to Katun Rupa Ljakina, with additional weather reserve. Days 1–2 cover Sinjajevina; day 3 the Tara/Mojkovac approach; days 4–5 Bjelasica; day 6 Trešnjevik and Komovi; days 7–9 Carine, Maglić and the Žijovo exit. This is an outline rather than a serviced overnight chain: agree sleeping locations, water, resupply and escape routes beforehand. Bukumirsko Lake requires a separate extension.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose snow-free mountain conditions and reserve several days for poor weather. Snow on the high southern passages and heat on open Sinjajevina can affect the same journey. Assess each massif separately before continuing.
