Route description

This long circuit from Timiryazevsky Forest reveals Moscow through its green spaces. The eastern side reaches woodland and parks; the south links Tsaritsyno with Biryulyovo Arboretum, and the western arc returns through other natural areas. At Tsaritsyno the path crosses the Figurny Bridge, whose towers turn a park transition into an encounter with palace architecture. In the arboretum, slow down along Larch Alley and examine the collection plantings. This is an extended journey on Alexander Sovetov’s Green Ring, best completed through several outings. Urban passages join the parks, while transport allows each day to end at a convenient place.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
These ratings concern the full multi-day walk. With children, choose a separate short park outing. Dogs cannot enter historical Tsaritsyno. Cycling requires its own permitted variant because riding inside the Tsaritsyno enclosure is restricted. Complete stroller access and signal coverage throughout the circuit are unconfirmed.

Nearby

Tsaritsyno’s museum interiors make a separate extension of the southern day beyond the walking passage itself. An arboretum collection tour is also best given its own outing rather than squeezed into a long walking stage.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
The Green Ring author identifies numerous Metro and MCC stations near its park sections. Choose a Timiryazevsky Forest approach and each day’s exit using the current city network; select stations after deciding the daily section. There is no need for a single through service along the entire circuit.
By car
There is no confirmed unified vehicle-access scheme for all daily sections. Arrange city approaches individually and continue through the parks on foot; plan the meeting after each walking day beforehand.
Parking
There is no confirmed current parking information for the selected woodland start. If arriving by car, establish a permitted place to leave it and how to return after the daily walk.

Biryulyovo Arboretum Larch Alley a named section of collection plantings on the southern side of the circuit.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 2285 м.
SurfaceAsphalt 35%, Dirt 8%, Paving stones 5%, Unknown 47%.
Риски The full walk’s difficulty comes from accumulated fatigue and repeated transitions between parks. Use designated street and railway crossings. Woodland surfaces may soften after rain; a landscaped alley and an earthen forest path require different expectations. Allow for construction restrictions and available entrances beside Lipetskaya Street at Biryulyovo Arboretum. Do not bypass closures through fences.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Time for the route 38–45 h
With stops | 48–60 h Allow 6–8 days of walking for the complete circuit, leaving to urban transport each evening. Take the eastern section, southern parks, western arc and northern return in sequence. Choose daily boundaries for your stamina and accessible stations. Arrange accommodation in the city: Tsaritsyno forbids tents.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Moderate weather and long daylight suit a sequence of walking days. Spring can bring mud, autumn wet leaves, and winter ice at crossings. Although the Green Ring is conceived as a year-round route, check each park’s operation and construction restrictions before its daily section.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Broken-in walking footwear and spare dry socks.
Rain protection, water and food for the chosen walking day.
Saved map, urban transport plan and power bank; a headlamp in reserve.
