Route description

This Green Ring variant invites you to discover Moscow a piece at a time: a woodland day gives way to palace parkland, before the path turns towards the next green district. The departure from Timiryazevsky Forest sets the direction of a wide circuit along the city’s eastern, southern, western and northern sides. Among its southern stops are Tsaritsyno’s Figurny Bridge and Biryulyovo Arboretum’s Spruce Alley. Both deserve time for the places themselves rather than a hurried onward march. Allow several separate days for the whole journey and choose transport exits beforehand. The long circuit remains a coherent idea even when each night ends at home.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
The Figurny Bridge shows how a park path becomes part of a palace ensemble. Spruce Alley adds a botanical encounter with the arboretum; stops like these make a sequential city circuit more varied than repeating the same district walk.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
The whole circuit suits independent adults accustomed to long walks. Children can take separate short outings. Dogs cannot enter Tsaritsyno’s historical landscape park; cycling needs a separate variant with local restrictions. Complete stroller access along the woodland circuit is unconfirmed.

Nearby

Tsaritsyno’s palace interiors and exhibitions require a separate visit beyond the long walking passage. A standalone botanical excursion in Biryulyovo Arboretum is another option; add its time to the southern day’s plan.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
The Green Ring is designed around urban rail access: its author identifies numerous Metro and MCC stations beside the parks. Choose each day’s beginning and end from the current network, allowing for walking approaches. Start the first outing from the Timiryazevsky Forest side convenient for your journey.
By car
There is no confirmed overall vehicle-access scheme for the selected daily entrances. Agree any end-of-day meeting separately and walk the park circuit on foot.
Parking
There is no confirmed current parking information for the beginning of this variant. A city transport plan is more convenient for completing successive walking days.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 165 м.
SurfaceAsphalt 36%, Dirt 12%, Paving stones 4%, Unknown 40%.
Риски Do not attempt the entire circuit without rest simply because it lies within the city. Between parks, pay attention to streets, permitted entrances and the required junction. Woodland sections can have earthen surfaces and slippery roots. Works beside Biryulyovo Arboretum affect approaches: check available entrances and follow permitted diversions around fences. Choose permitted road crossings particularly carefully: a map direction alone does not replace a safe pedestrian passage.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Time for the route 40–47 h
With stops | 50–63 h Set aside 7–9 days of walking for this entire variant and visits. Resume each outing where the previous day ended; travel between days is outside these hours. Divide the southern section to leave time for Tsaritsyno architecture and the arboretum alleys. Plan short family outings separately.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose several moderately warm days with sufficient daylight. Autumn foliage adds interest but wet alleys are slippery; carry more water in heat. Winter needs a separate assessment of ice and open entrances, while spring calls for checking woodland surface conditions.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Comfortable long-distance walking footwear and a spare dry layer.
Water, food and rain protection for the whole daily outing.
A daily-section map, charged phone, power bank and means to pay for city transport.
