Route description

From Hourquette d’Alans, the journey enters the high ground between France’s Estaubé cirque and Spain’s Pineta. Two distinct crossings matter here: Brèche de Tuquerouye beside Lake Marboré, and Puerto Nuevo de Pineta. This extended variant covers both areas, includes approaches toward Balcón de Pineta and La Larri, then leads through Chisagüés into the Parzán area. Plan it as connected stages with a chosen sequence rather than one short crossing. Marboré, Tuquerouye’s rock passage and the valley exit offer an absorbing introduction to opposite sides of the Monte Perdido massif.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - No With a dog - No By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data This collection of demanding high crossings suits an experienced group. The approach to Hourquette d’Alans is separate. The French section lies in the district subject to the national-park core’s dog prohibition.

Nearby

Gavarnie, Espuguettes and Pineta refuge can serve as bases for separate approaches. Visiting them and descending to villages are additions to the selected high variant.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 3900 м.
SurfaceAsphalt 3%, Dirt / grass 2%, Compacted dirt 1%, Unknown 94%.
Риски Tuquerouye’s steep gully can retain snow; on loose ground, confident footing and spacing between walkers matter. Including Puerto Nuevo does not make this entire collection a safe bypass of Tuquerouye. Agree refuge accommodation and permitted camps separately.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Time for the route 3–4 days
With stops | 4–5 days This allowance covers the full extended variant with two high passages and the Pineta branches. A selected direct crossing can be shorter. Agree overnight sites and the order of passages before starting; a coach timetable cannot resolve the mountain logistics.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose the summer mountain window after checking snow in the crossings. Early or late season needs a fresh technical plan; an accessible road at Parzán says little about Tuquerouye.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Bring mountain footwear and warm windproof clothing.
Carry independent food and water treatment.
A snowy gully requires appropriate ice equipment and skills determined before departure.
