Route description

The blue direction from Zaroslyak offers another approach to Hoverla. A woodland path follows the slope before reaching open ground, where the summit becomes the main landmark. This version includes returns through familiar woodland, requiring a more deliberate day plan than a direct ascent. Pause after leaving the trees, assess clouds over Chornohora and then decide whether to continue higher. The passage finishes on Hoverla itself, with the final descent to Zaroslyak chosen separately. Hoverla waterfall lies in a neighbouring valley; seeing that valley’s slopes is not a visit to its cascade.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 1191 м.
SurfaceImproved surface 100%.
Риски The upper slope is exposed to wind, while wet grass and stones complicate descent. Do not continue to the summit in thunderstorms, dense fog or ice. Preserve time for returning and notify rescuers of the complete plan. Use permitted paths rather than shortcuts between them.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Time for the route 3–4 h to the summit including forest returns
With stops | 6–8 h with the final descent The selected passage contains forest returns before finishing at the summit. The first allowance is therefore not the usual direct blue-ascent time. The second adds rest and a separate descent to Zaroslyak. Plan 1 day of walking and establish which return portions belong to your outing rather than accidentally repeating them at junctions.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose snow-free conditions and a settled forecast without thunderstorm risk for an ordinary ascent. Snow can remain above the trees after the valley warms. Winter requires separate assessment of wind, snow and avalanche conditions.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода

Wind and rain protection, a warm layer and gloves.
