Route description

From the Staishche side, this outing explores roads along the eastern spur, reaches Kostrych and returns to the starting side. A separate eastern branch precedes the principal mountain ascent, making it more extensive than a direct summit walk. Higher up, forest gives way to the open Kostrych summit, revealing Chornohora from another ridge. Pause to compare the rounded nearby slopes with the higher mountains beyond. Kostrych is distinct from the highest Kostrycha summit; this outing reaches the former. Older and present Staishche-side approaches differ, requiring confirmation of relevant local junctions beforehand.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Several junctions occur between woodland and inhabited slopes; do not assume that the older direction follows today’s blue marking throughout. Rain creates mud and slippery grass. Assess wind and cloud at the summit, retaining time for every return before darkness.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Time for the route 5–7 h
With stops | 7–9 h This includes the selected eastern branch, Kostrych ascent and return to the starting Staishche side. Plan 1 day of walking with an early start. Road arrival and the initial mountain-path approach are excluded; a shortened direct ascent needs a separate path choice.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
A dry snow-free day with ample daylight is preferable. Fog removes the summit’s visual interest and complicates junctions. Spring melt and rain leave forest approaches wet.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Grippy footwear and familiar poles.
Rain protection, a warm layer, water and food for the complete day.
A headlamp and map covering the eastern branch and return; save mountain-rescue contacts.
