Route description

The lower Taraktash ascent changes the scale of the landscape. The Vodopadnaya valley stays nearby at the beginning, before the path leads towards Taraktash’s limestone rocks. Examine their ridges and openings slowly: the shape of the rock wall becomes the central attraction. Near the finish, Taraktash-Bogaz Viewpoint offers a pause towards the Yalta side without requiring an onward plateau climb. This is the lower Taraktash section, ascending to the rocky passage and its lookout, rather than the full route to the Ai-Petri ranger station. Official visiting requires an instructor-guide; agree this particular variant and the return. The same slope feels different when descending, so retain energy for careful steps instead of spending it all on the upper pause.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceDirt 33%, Unknown 67%.
Риски Keep to the accessible path beside rocks and openings in the wall, following the guide. Rockfall, slippery stones after rain and nearby drops require attention. Assess mist, thunderstorms and snow separately; do not bypass a closed section through a neighbouring gully.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 2 h 1 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Plan a separate daylight ascent, pauses beside the rocks and time reserved for descent. This variant ends before the continuation to the ranger station, so the full Taraktash programme does not describe this outing. Add Yalta travel and transport waiting separately.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose a dry, snow-free day with confirmed access for an ordinary outing. Check the rocky side separately after heavy rain or in wind. Winter ice changes conditions; sunshine on the coast does not establish safety above.

What to bring
