Route description

A ride beside the Yauza reveals several faces of Moscow in one outing. The northern branch heads towards Mytishchi, while the southern passage runs through Rostokino and follows the river towards urban embankments. Rostokino Aqueduct is the distinctive stop: its pale arches recall the period when Moscow received clean water from the Mytishchi springs. The continuation reaches the Moscow River and turns along its bank towards the centre. Short local branches offer different approaches and returns. Decide their order before setting off instead of expecting a simple passage from one northern start to one southern finish.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
This is a bicycle outing with urban crossings. Children need confident control and adult supervision; a short park section is better for an initial independent ride. Dogs must be leashed in Yauza Park, and a complete cycling outing with a dog needs a separate plan. Continuous stroller access is unconfirmed.

Nearby

The aqueduct’s upper gallery is a separate pedestrian extension after viewing the structure outside; the park publishes its own access arrangements. A shortened ride can leave time for a separate walk in neighbouring Yauza Park areas beyond the cycling passages.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
The park confirms a walking approach to Rostokino Aqueduct from VDNKh metro and Rostokino MCC. This enters the middle of the ride and does not replace the approach to the northern branch. Choose the required entry point and check current bicycle carriage rules and return transport beforehand.
By car
Vehicles may not enter Yauza Park without a permit. Vehicle access to the selected northern start is unconfirmed; arrange a drop-off outside park grounds.
Parking
There is no confirmed current parking information for the selected start. If travelling by car, arrange vehicle storage and the return beforehand.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 65 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Urban traffic appears where parks meet streets: use permitted crossings and dismount when required. The aqueduct can be viewed from below; the upper gallery is pedestrian and has separate visiting arrangements. Distinguish the northern branch from the city-centre continuation, and do not expect dedicated cycle infrastructure on every urban street.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Time for the route 3–4 h
With stops | 5–6 h Allow one day for the northern branch and southern urban passage with an aqueduct stop. Treat the Mytishchi branch separately from riding downstream: decide the turn-around point and part order beforehand. Add branch returns and transport approaches to this allowance.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose a dry, snow-free day with generous daylight. Riverside paths and paving can become slippery after rain, while leaves conceal surface edges. Check local closures and the aqueduct gallery’s opening if you intend to go up.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
A maintained bicycle, helmet and working brakes.
Front and rear lights, spare tube and compact repair kit.
Water, food, rain protection, lock and saved map of urban crossings.
