Route description

Explore the woodland around Firsanovka and Serednikovo through several separate paths. The northern sections focus on the Skhodnya and Shchepkino Boloto Lake, with places to pause near the water before following the woods towards Malino. The southern branch begins near the estate entrance, passes St Alexius Church and leads across the Goretovka towards the northern woodland. Choose this variant if you are prepared to arrange your own walking sequence beforehand. There are gaps between the sections and they run in different directions, so they do not form a ready continuous station-to-estate walk. Visit the most appealing parts as separate outings, checking their approaches, river crossings and return arrangements. The estate park and house can be added as an independent visit.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
Explore the woods on both sides of Malino and give your chosen area more attention: the lake and Skhodnya valley to the north, or the Goretovka and old church to the south. These paths invite a considered choice of outing where riverside woodland and Serednikovo’s history lie close to the suburban railway.

Nearby

At Serednikovo, arrange a separate visit to the park or the house associated with Lermontov’s youthful summers. The park currently costs 150 roubles and an adult tour 600 roubles; the main courtyard and house require a guided visit. Confirm the schedule and morning opening with the owner. The Devil’s Bridge, larch avenue, church bathing chapel and memorial branches lie outside these sections. Current admission to the Piligrim Porto film set is unconfirmed.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Firsanovskaya provides a rail arrival for the northern sections, with a separate approach to your selected departure. For the southern area, Serednikovo’s owner lists bus 40 between Firsanovskaya and Mtsyri Sanatorium. Check travel-date services and your return from the end of the chosen section. Malino is closed to passengers, so the older suggestion to board a train there should not be used for planning.
By car
Choose either a northern woodland section near Firsanovka or a southern one near Serednikovo, then arrange a drop-off on an accessible street. Roads into the settlements do not automatically connect all these paths. Plan the return to your vehicle before setting out, particularly when walking north from the estate towards the Goretovka.
Parking
Parking at your chosen woodland departure is unconfirmed. For a separate Serednikovo visit, the estate owner offers vehicle placement on its grounds for 400 roubles; confirm conditions and the departure time. That facility serves the estate. It does not resolve parking for the northern paths without a separate return arrangement.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски The main planning issue is the separation of the paths, with gaps and opposing directions. Establish permitted connecting approaches beforehand or choose one independent outing. Wet lakeside ground, fallen trees and flood damage to footbridges can affect progress. The railway crossing at closed Malino requires a separate check. If a safe bridge or designated railway crossing is unavailable, stop that part of the outing.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 4 h 3 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Timing depends on the chosen section and arrival arrangements. A single whole-day duration for all the paths is not established; the usual time for the continuous Firsanovskaya–Serednikovo walk does not apply. Select your start, exit and return first, then add a lake pause or separate estate visit. Aim to finish all woodland walking in daylight.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose dry conditions and low river levels for these separate woodland outings. After prolonged rain, pay particular attention to the ground around Shchepkino Boloto and the river footbridges. Shorten autumn plans to fit daylight. Winter access across the full set of paths is unconfirmed.
