Route description

The extended Marfino circuit combines woodland walking with a research town, estates and traditional arts near Moscow. From Depo, the outing reaches Depovsky Pond and the Williams Institute research town: a scientist’s monument and An-2 aircraft stand here, while the Shukhov tower is visible from the passage. Beyond the wooden Sporitelnitsa Khlebov church, the western woodland arc meets the Ucha. Troitse-Seltso and its stone Trinity Church are followed by the Marfino side, where a separate approach reaches an outside view of the estate. The Fedoskino loop introduces the Lukutiny house and lacquer miniature painting; the next museum side passage belongs to the history of the T-34 tank. The return follows the Razderikha, a spring and woodland pond to Depo. This is a rich walking journey: organise museum admission and overnight accommodation separately to allow an unhurried pace of discovery.

For independent walkers experienced in woodland passages and checking museum conditions. Suitability of the entire circuit for children, dogs and bicycles is unestablished; individual properties have different entrance rules. Do not plan the whole woodland passage with a stroller. Continuous reception is unconfirmed.

Nearby

Depo and Lobnya have other urban memorial places and Lake Kiovo, but adding them requires a separate walk. The Fedoskino factory and the Lukutiny house museum are distinct properties: a production tour is not automatically included in the museum approach. The current T-34 website places even its outdoor display under admission tickets. Marfino park visitors are not admitted to estate interiors.

Without a car
The main beginning and ending belong to Depo halt on the Savyolovsky direction, at the passenger approach near the platform’s northern end. Choose a present train and an authorised platform passage. An early finish on the Nekrasovskaya side can be arranged separately with its own walking approach and train. Present bus options from Marfino, Fedoskino and Sholokhovo need independent checking.
By car
Agree delivery to your chosen Depo passenger approach and collection after the return. Direct vehicle access to every woodland and river section is unconfirmed. Plan separate museum visits by car under the properties’ own current conditions; these do not replace the circuit’s walking connections.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. Ask whether you may leave a car for the entire journey at your chosen starting approach. Agree group drop-off and a longer vehicle stay separately.

Depovsky (Lugovskoy) Pond The early shore section introduces Depovsky Pond between woodland and fields.
V. R. Williams monument The monument beside the research institute connects the walk with the history of grassland and forage studies.
An-2 aircraft monument The familiar An-2 biplane makes an unusual pause in the research town.
Shukhov water tower From the aircraft monument, look towards the lattice tower on the research centre’s grounds. Entry to the tower and climbing it are outside the outing.
Church of the Sporitelnitsa Khlebov icon The wooden church in Lugovaya is connected with the research town and its agricultural history.
Anti-tank ditch near the research town A surviving section of the defensive ditch recalls the Moscow battle lines.
Ucha along the woodland and Fedoskino sections The Ucha appears on the western woodland side and near Fedoskino. Check present authorised crossings separately.
Trinity Church in Troitse-Seltso The stone Trinity Church provides a historical landmark in the village section; its main altar was consecrated in the nineteenth century.
Pilot V. S. Balmat monument The memorial pause before the Marfino continuation honours a pilot killed during Moscow’s defence.
Marfino estate (outside approach) The side passage reaches the entrance and an outside view of the estate ensemble. Arrange a park visit under present rules; estate interiors are closed to park visitors.
Lukutiny Estate Museum in Fedoskino The museum loop reaches the Lukutiny house and the art of lacquer miniature painting. Plan exhibitions, tours and workshops around the current opening schedule.
History of the T-34 Tank Museum A separate side passage reaches the museum in Sholokhovo. Choose the outdoor displays and indoor visit using the present admission tickets.

Риски In the western woods between the research town and Nekrasovskaya, the author describes wet places, ruts and woodland corridors. Check their present condition, authorised Ucha crossings and road connections. The author separately warns of development on the Sholokhovo-side field continuation. Side passages to Marfino, Fedoskino and T-34 have their own turns and do not replace the main passage. An outside estate approach does not establish entry to its park or interiors.

A day-by-day plan is not established. The multi-day journey’s published intent allows different sightseeing paces, but current overnight places and a confirmed total duration are unavailable. Divide walking sections, museum pauses and accommodation in your own plan. The published Fedoskino museum schedule closes on Monday and Tuesday; T-34 closes on Monday. Confirm hours before travelling. Do not transfer another property’s timetable within the combined museum to Fedoskino.

Best time to go
