Route description

Explore the forest between Rzhavki and Mendeleevo with branches to Zubovskoye Lake and Samolyotnaya Polyana. A side path reaches the lake’s quiet southwest shore, after which you need to return to the woodland junction. At Samolyotnaya Polyana, the outing takes on a more reflective character: memorials among the trees remember the people lost in an air disaster. The northern portion reaches the Klyazma, while the western branch passes Shkolnoye Lake near Rzhavki. Together, these places offer a day of woodland water and a short memorial visit. Decide beforehand which branches to explore and how to link them: side visits, differing directions and returns to junctions all need planning. This variant does not provide a ready-made circuit of every lake.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
Approach Zubovskoye Lake along its separate forest path, then compare the secluded shore with the river landscape of the Klyazma. Samolyotnaya Polyana offers a quiet pause for remembrance. To extend the outing, the western branch introduces another patch of woodland water at small Shkolnoye Lake near Rzhavki.

Nearby

The Bayonets memorial lies near the western exit; its forecourt needs an additional approach and is outside the visited points of this variant. Dalny Spring is mapped near Mendeleevo, but its water quality is unconfirmed. The Russian Interior Gallery is also nearby; arrange any indoor visit separately. The MAI clearing and Klushino Hill across the Klyazma remain independent additions.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Bus 1350 links Khovrino metro with Mendeleevo and serves Rzhavki and Rzhavki-2. Choose arrival and return stops to suit the forest exits you intend to use. A walking approach is needed; do not expect a return bus beside each lake or woodland junction. Check current services before travelling.
By car
Approach an accessible residential area of Rzhavki or Mendeleevo from the Leningrad Highway. Continue on foot, arranging a return to the same place or a collection elsewhere. If finishing on the opposite side of the forest, settle the transport arrangements before starting. Driving along the forest paths to the lakes is unconfirmed.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. Establish a permitted place, parking conditions and the woodland approach in your selected settlement beforehand. An area beside garages or buildings is not necessarily available to visiting walkers. Keep pedestrian entrances and closed access roads clear.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Choose the intended side visit and return at each junction. Wet, slippery ground can affect lakeside paths; tall vegetation and fallen trees may obstruct the woods. Avoid shortcuts over boggy shores. Reaching the Klyazma on the northern branch does not include crossing the river. Use permitted crossings near the Leningrad Highway. The present condition of every approach is unconfirmed.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 4 h 19 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Timing depends on the branches you select. A verified duration for the complete outing is not established. Allow separately for returning from Zubovskoye Lake to the junction, pausing at Samolyotnaya Polyana and walking out to the bus. With limited daylight, choose fewer destinations and protect your return margin. Visiting the western lake does not replace planning a transport exit.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Dry weather and low water are preferable for walking to the lakes and memorial clearing. Check shore approaches after rain. Deep winter snow may require skis: a February 2026 visitor reported those conditions at Samolyotnaya Polyana. That is an individual account, not confirmation of a prepared ski trail throughout. Avoid thaw-softened lake margins.

What to bring

Drinking water and food
Map of junctions and the exit to a settlement
