Route description

This ski variant links separate woodland directions on the Olkha Plateau. One approach reaches Orlyonok railway halt; other sections pass Vityaz Rock and form a broad southern arc towards Medvezhata, using portions of the local marathon ski network. Vityaz, a granite rock formation surrounded by taiga, is the journey’s principal landmark. Continuous connections between every section and a prepared ski trail throughout are unconfirmed. Departure is in woodland and the ending beside Vityaz; the sequence establishes no complete return to Orlyonok. The southern arc partly enters Pribaikalsky National Park: agree the entire selected passage, permission and current restrictions beforehand.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - No With a dog - No data By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - Patchy Experience of long ski outings, independent navigation and ungroomed snow is needed. Select accessible sections after checking connections; a nearby race course does not establish maintenance of the complete variant.

Nearby

An independent Medvezhata summit ascent is excluded from the roadside rock viewing; establish any additional ascent separately. Idol, Starukha and Hidden Stones are not claimed as visited places. BAM races at Ogonki have their own course and rules; this outing is distinct from marathon participation.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
The Great Baikal Trail association and suburban operator’s own timetable confirm rail access to Orlyonok. Select current departures and ski carriage for your date. The halt lies on one separate branch and is not the exact common departure or ending. Return from Vityaz needs an independently arranged approach.
By car
Arrange authorised road drop-off and final collection independently for the selected woodland section. Through winter vehicle access to Vityaz or all branches is unconfirmed. Do not drive along ski directions to shorten the approach.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. Arrange vehicle storage for the complete outing at an authorised lower approach beforehand. The local recreation centre’s grounds are unconfirmed as public parking.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Check complete connections between separate branches before departure. Woodland sections may involve ungroomed snow, fallen trees and difficult descents; the trail association reports ending maintenance of its paths in 2023. Check bridges and water crossings separately rather than substituting passage over thin ice.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 6 h 54 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
The complete ski variant’s duration is unconfirmed. First select a confirmed section, establish connections and arrange the return transport approach. Ordinary short Orlyonok–Vityaz walking times and marathon race times are not transferred here. Plan to finish before dark.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
For skiing, choose established snow cover after confirming passage and admission. Fresh snow may require opening your own way; thaw affects glide and descending safety. October or snow-free access does not establish a prepared winter ski trail.
