Route description

From Orlyonok, this ski passage heads into the forests of Olkhinskoye Plateau toward the granite outcrop of Medvezhata. The Bolshaya Olkha valley accompanies the first section before forest roads lead toward Zyryansky Creek and the rock surroundings. View Medvezhata from its accessible base: column-like stone forms among the trees help explain the appeal of these outcrops to local visitors. Beyond the rock, a long southern continuation changes the character of the day. The passage leaves the familiar shorter outings for river valleys and Krivoy Creek, turns west toward Bolshaya Olkha and returns through the Kaimurastuy forest surroundings to Trudny. These changing places make it a substantial independent passage between two railway halts. Prepare the full outing only after checking present ski continuity, river crossings and the permitted approach to the required platform. It suits experienced forest skiers who want a day among granite outcrops and small valleys of the Baikal region.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - No With a dog - No data By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data Rail arrival from Irkutsk helps prepare arrival at Orlyonok and return from Trudny. Present ski continuity in the southern forest, river crossings and the permitted final platform approach are unconfirmed. Prepare the full outing only after checking those conditions. It requires forest navigation, endurance and confident skiing rather than beginner-level touring. A bicycle or stroller is unsuitable for this winter variant. Dog rules and mobile coverage are unknown.

Nearby

Zerkala and Verblyud lie off this ski passage. Visit them separately with their own approaches; their summits and outlooks are outside this outing. Vityaz, Old Fortress and other Olkhinskoye outcrops also require different variants. Avoid adding familiar rock names to a large southern passage without preparing the additional outing: return to Trudny already needs separate planning. Current shelters, rentals, heated platform facilities and food stops throughout the continuation are unconfirmed.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Prepare arrival at Orlyonok and return from Trudny separately using Irkutsk’s present suburban timetable. Mapping and a local ski guide confirm both halts; old departure times do not apply. Check the platform exit toward the beginning and the permitted approach to the required Trudny platform. Do not walk along active rails or cross at an arbitrary point. Until an equipped safe approach is established, do not base the full passage on catching the last train.
By car
Prepare road arrival at Orlyonok separately. A local author describes car arrival, but present winter road conditions and a permitted ski drop-off point need checking. The outing ends at Trudny, so arrange return to the car or a separate pickup beforehand. Vehicle passage through the southern forest and river sections is unconfirmed. Keep ski paths, river approaches and platform exits clear.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. No place at Orlyonok has been verified for leaving a vehicle throughout the passage to Trudny. Agree permitted parking beforehand or prepare rail arrival with a separate return. Keep the river approach, forest junctions and working access clear.

What to expect

Places
Medvezhata Rock beside the Ski Passage a low granite outcrop with column-like forms viewed from its accessible base. An ascent is outside this outing.
Zyryansky Creek on the Forest Approach a named stream near the road toward Medvezhata.
Krivoy Creek in the Southern Forest Valley a watercourse along the long southern continuation with several stream approaches.
Bolshaya Olkha on the Western Continuation a riverside place beyond the southern valley, where the course turns toward the northern forest.
Kaimurastuy before the Northern Return a forest stream on the way to Trudny. Check present crossings, water and snow at every river location.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 1488 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски The southern passage beside Krivoy and the onward forest return are unconfirmed as a prepared continuous ski route. A direct section crosses the river valley, with further approaches close to the stream; the presence of a course does not establish stable snow, sound ice or bridges. Check the full continuation before departure. Defer it if there is open water, overflow ice, a closure or no prepared passage. River crossings also occur near Orlyonok, followed later by Bolshaya Olkha and Kaimurastuy. Short local outings through Vityaz do not represent this southern variant’s demands. Remain at the rock’s accessible base. Reach the Trudny platform only by a permitted equipped approach, without walking along active rails. Arrange a separate shorter outing before travelling if conditions remain uncertain.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 8 h 9 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Time for the route | Unestablished With stops | Unestablished Prepare a separate daytime skiing plan after checking the whole passage. Divide the day between the Orlyonok approach, Medvezhata, the southern Krivoy valley and return via Bolshaya Olkha and Kaimurastuy to Trudny. Assess daylight before entering the southern continuation. Times for the shorter club ski passage or summer rock approach do not apply. Do not try to catch a train by improvising forest shortcuts through unbroken snow or closures. Accommodation is unconfirmed on this variant.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Winter with sufficient snow and recent confirmation of continuous ski passage. For the southern forest section, conditions throughout the valley matter more than well-used snow near Orlyonok. Snowfall can obscure the way and a thaw can bring water and crust; account for wind and cold during pauses. Check the forecast, forest restrictions and river crossings before departure. The summer approach to Medvezhata is a different outing and does not establish snow-free passage through the whole southern variant.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Skis and poles suited to present forest snow, with working bindings and boots; assess your ability to handle unbroken snow beforehand.
Clothing for movement and a warm dry layer for stops, spare gloves and weather-appropriate face and eye protection.
A thermos or drinking supplies protected from freezing, and food for the whole day: forest streams are not verified drinking-water sources.
An offline map of river valleys and roads with a prepared return, a charged phone and additional power.
A first-aid kit, suitable equipment repair supplies and a lamp for an unexpected delay.
Share the departure and return plan with someone; continuous signal and an operating forest shelter are unconfirmed.
