Route description

Podkamennaya to Orlyonok through Krivaya Valley links the Olkha Plateau’s western forest roads with the Medvezhata side. From Podkamennaya the ski passage climbs through woodland towards the Seregin side and descends to the Bolshaya Olkha. It then turns into Krivaya, crosses the Shirokiy basin and upper Polovinnaya side, and reaches the survey clearing. A wooded watershed carries the journey into another river system. Passing near the base of Medvezhata provides a rock stop, followed by the final roads towards Zyryansky and the Bolshaya Olkha. Successive valleys and wooded passes define the journey; summit approaches to Shakhtay, Zerkala and Vityaz are absent from this version. Experienced groups should consider the complete passage after confirming park access and present winter conditions.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
To connect Podkamennaya with Orlyonok on a sustained woodland ski journey through Krivaya, with a Medvezhata stop after the watershed. The western approach differs from the Trudny itinerary: forest roads on the Podkamennaya side come first, with the rock encounter closer to the final section. Successive river valleys give the journey distinct changes of setting.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Railway references are confirmed at both ends; choose services and safe platform approaches beforehand. Experience of sustained ski outings, controlled descents and independent navigation is necessary. This is unsuitable as a children’s walk. Dog access along the complete park section and summer cycling conditions are separately unconfirmed.

Nearby

Shakhtay, White Church Rock and Zerkala lie at separate branches requiring another plan. A separate Vityaz visit is also absent here. The road in the upper Polovinnaya basin does not establish a visit to its main channel or a descent to Lake Baikal. As checked on 14 October 2026, specific winter access to the park section is unconfirmed: ask the park authority about this passage and the bear-related tourist restrictions. Reception at historical huts and services at ski bases are unknown.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Podkamennaya and Orlyonok appear in official Baikal suburban services. Podkamennaya is beside the start and Orlyonok beside the finish; check specific departures for your date and retain a margin after the long woodland passage. Establish the required platforms and permitted approaches beforehand. Do not cross railway lines outside designated places; historical return times do not replace the current timetable.
By car
Exact vehicle access is unconfirmed. Establish arrival on the Podkamennaya starting side and a meeting after the finish on the Orlyonok side separately. Arrange a return between the two ends if using a car. Permission and condition for driving on forest roads and entering the park require independent confirmation.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. Identify a lawful place for the car on the selected arrival side and a return to it beforehand.

What to expect

Places
Bolshaya Olkha River The river valley reached after the woodland departure from Podkamennaya. The passage meets it again before Orlyonok, linking the southern section with the finish. Confirm crossing conditions separately.
Shirokiy Stream A woodland stream on the passage from Krivaya towards the upper Polovinnaya basin. The river section gives way to the next watershed climb; an accessible winter crossing is not confirmed in advance.
Zyryansky to Polovinka Pass A watershed on the wooded survey clearing, approached from the Polovinka side in this direction. Beyond it the passage leads towards Medvezhata and the plateau’s northern side. An open panoramic view is not promised.
Medvezhata Rocks A rock outcrop beside the woodland passage after the watershed. This version passes near its base, providing a rock stop before the Zyryansky section; climbing onto the rocks is not included.
Zyryansky Stream The stream on the final woodland side of the passage. After the survey clearing and Medvezhata, the route returns to a river-valley setting before continuing to the Bolshaya Olkha and Orlyonok. Drinking-water suitability is unverified.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 672 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски The sustained woodland section includes climbs from Podkamennaya, the Krivaya passage and the watershed on the survey clearing. Deep snow can increase effort substantially; present clearing and a prepared ski trail are unconfirmed. Check river passages beside the Bolshaya Olkha, Shirokiy and Zyryansky separately, without assuming safe ice or historical bridges. At Medvezhata choose a viewing place near the base without climbing onto icy rocks. Part of the passage lies within the mapped Pribaikalsky National Park boundary; agree the exact corridor and permission, including current restrictions.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 7 h 24 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
A full ski-day version for a prepared group, with a reliable total duration unconfirmed. Assess the western approach from Podkamennaya, the descent to the Bolshaya Olkha, Krivaya, the watershed and the Medvezhata–Orlyonok finish separately before departure. Allowing for snow and river passages matters more than a historical report’s pace. Agree when to abandon continuation if delayed and how to return; functioning huts for an unplanned overnight stay are unconfirmed.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Winter with established snow cover, confirmed park permission and checked river conditions. A thaw changes water and rock conditions, while deep fresh snow increases the uphill work. A prepared ski trail along the entire passage is not guaranteed. Historical reports of forest-road clearing do not establish conditions in a new season.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
