Route description

From Orlyonok, this ski circuit heads to the upper Bolshaya Polovinnaya and returns along a northern forest clearing toward Zyryansky Creek. Bolshaya Olkha accompanies the beginning, followed by long woodland passages between river valleys. Changes in direction give the outing its character: a familiar approach near the railway leads into a winding far section, followed by a straight clearing on the return. The chosen return follows the northern clearing, descending through the forest to Zyryansky Creek before joining the way back toward Orlyonok. The attraction is the Olkha Plateau woodland itself, its river hollows and the different sides of a substantial circuit. This variant does not reach Medvezhata or Zerkala rocks; those require other branches. Part of the circuit enters Pribaikalsky National Park. Prepare the complete outing after agreeing present passage along the selected ways, obtaining a visitor permit and checking river crossings. A convenient clearing in an older account does not establish present clearance or ski preparation.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
For a substantial woodland outing returning to the same railway beginning. Bolshaya Olkha still feels close to Orlyonok; upper Bolshaya Polovinnaya brings a more independent forest journey, while the northern clearing changes the return. Choose this variant for wooded valleys and varied terrain rather than a required stop at the famous rocks.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Prepare arrival without a car through Orlyonok halt. This substantial circuit is for experienced skiers with confident descent technique, independent navigation and energy in reserve. A substantial forest section enters the national park: obtain present agreement for the entire continuation and the required visitor permit before travelling. A bicycle or stroller is unsuitable for this winter variant. Dog access and reliable mobile coverage are unconfirmed.

Nearby

Medvezhata and Zerkala rocks belong to other branches; this northern return does not visit them. Petrovich base farther along its own road is also outside the confirmed stops. Marituy, Lake Baikal shore, Shinikhta and Dabat are separate directions rather than additional places on this day. Prepare them as different outings after checking approaches and permissions. Operating rentals, heated premises and food throughout the complete circuit are unconfirmed.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Prepare rail arrival at Orlyonok halt, returning to the same place. Check present suburban train services, operating days and permitted platform access toward the forest before travelling. A nearby railway beginning does not establish a safe crossing of the rails at an arbitrary point. Allow a reserve before the return train: no intermediate public transport has been confirmed in the far part of this circuit.
By car
For car arrival, check road access and permitted drop-off near the railway side of Orlyonok beforehand. Forest ways farther along do not establish vehicle access, particularly inside the national park. Agree a meeting place after the return and do not depend on car support throughout the circuit. Barriers, closed roads and protected sections require separate permission.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. No area has been verified for leaving a vehicle throughout the complete forest circuit. Check permitted vehicle storage before travelling, or arrange arrival by train. Keep platform approaches, roads and the forest entrance clear; an empty roadside does not establish permitted parking.

What to expect

Places
Bolshaya Olkha near Orlyonok the river valley at the beginning and return. Establish a usable present crossing beforehand.
Upper Bolshaya Polovinnaya the named river in the far part of the circuit, reached from different sides.
Zyryansky Creek on the Return the woodland creek after the northern descent, before rejoining the way toward Orlyonok.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 721 м.
SurfaceDirt 40%, Dirt / grass 14%, Unknown 46%.
Риски The main difficulties are the substantial forest continuation, river crossings and northern descents. Older references to wooden and concrete bridges do not establish present integrity; do not assume a prepared winter crossing at the initial Olkha either. Defer the full circuit if open water, unconfirmed ice or an unusable crossing prevents passage. The return clearing has steep sections and turns following descents: control speed and be able to stop before an obstacle. Uncleared woodland, fallen trees or vehicle ruts can make continuation unsuitable for the chosen skis. Check junctions before gaining speed: the road toward Petrovich base and branches to the rocks differ from this return. Follow the agreed passage and present restrictions inside the park.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 8 h 47 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Time for the route | Unestablished With stops | Unestablished Prepare a substantial independent skiing day with early arrival and a reserve before the return train. Divide the plan into the initial river valley, the far section near Bolshaya Polovinnaya and the northern-clearing return. Before committing to the far forest, assess crossing conditions, group pace and remaining daylight. Keep an energy reserve for steep descents late in the day. Another skier’s time for a rock-visiting variant does not apply; an intermediate heated stop and accommodation are unconfirmed.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Winter with sufficient snow, presently usable forest passage and confirmed river crossings. Calendar months do not replace checking conditions: thaws, new snowfall and an uncleared clearing substantially change the outing. Check park restrictions and availability of the entire agreed continuation before setting out. A summer walk along the same ways requires a separate plan and assessment of water and crossing conditions.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Working skis, bindings and boots suited to present forest snow, with confident control on descents.
Cold and wind protection, a dry warm layer for pauses and spare gloves.
Drinking supplies protected from freezing and food for the entire day; operating food stops in the far forest are unconfirmed.
An offline map of all junctions, a charged phone, additional power and a lamp.
A first-aid kit and suitable repair equipment for the skiing gear.
Save the visitor permit and the passage plan agreed with park staff beforehand. Share the return plan with someone; equipment does not establish usable river crossings.
