Route description

The great eastern sweep begins at NKT Pass and leads far beyond Ergaki’s familiar western side. Wooded valleys bring the journey to Big Buyba Lake, followed by a shore-side visit to Big Fishless Lake. A southern woodland connection then approaches Svetloe from another side before the outing crosses Tushkanchik towards the lower western paths. The second half changes the journey’s character again. Beyond a lengthy forest branch come Raduzhnoe, Sleeping Sayan Hair Viewpoint and Head and Sleeping Sayan saddles. They lead towards Lazurnoe, followed by a northern continuation ending at Skazka Pass. This journey suits visitors curious about how distant eastern lakes connect with woodland approaches and Sleeping Sayan’s mountain side. Reach NKT independently and prepare the exit beyond Skazka beforehand; agree multi-day overnight stays and permitted crossings with a leader and the directorate.

By car
Drive to an agreed lower Ergaki side. Walk to the initial pass and independently return to the road after Skazka. The mid-journey lower woodland section does not establish vehicle access to the upper lakes.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. Choose a specific vehicle space before the multi-day outing. The beginning and ending passes are not reached by vehicle.
