Route description

This programme brings together three different sides of Ergaki. The first outing crosses wooded Tushkanchik Pass to Svetloe Lake’s southwestern approach, where a pause beside the water reveals its mountain setting. The second is dedicated to the actual Hanging Stone, a large boulder poised beside a rocky edge. The third reaches Raduzhnoe from the lower wooded side and offers another encounter with Sleeping Sayan’s scenery. Treat the journey as several independently prepared walks during a park stay. Choose the connection between Svetloe and the stone-side beginning with a local leader, and separately arrange the move from Hanging Stone to the third walk’s lower beginning. Each part also needs its own return plan. With that preparation, the lakes and the rocky stop can remain the memorable events of the visit.

Without a car

Wet rock, snow and exposed edges matter at the pass and Hanging Stone; never try to move the boulder or stand below it for a photograph. Woodland adds roots, mud and junctions. Confirm current bear advice, permitted approaches and path condition before travelling.
