Route description

The main journey begins beside Karovoe Lake and crosses the mountains towards Svetloe. Artists-2 Pass leads into Artists Lake’s rocky valley before the path rises towards Mountain Spirits Lake. Beyond Ptitsa Pass, woodland returns to the scenery and the first part finishes beside Svetloe’s southwestern side. This sequence of lakes and saddles suits visitors with mountain-hiking experience. The programme also includes two independent walks from Svetloe’s eastern woodland and a separate lower outing to Hanging Stone. They begin elsewhere and need their own approaches and returns. Choose the connections between all four parts with a leader beforehand, giving particular attention to moving from Svetloe to the stone walk’s lower beginning. The result can combine a serious pass outing with a separate encounter with Ergaki’s woodland and rock.
