Route description

Alla-Askyr becomes part of a wider lake journey through the Katun Range. The approach leads towards Kuyguk before a mountain crossing reveals another valley and Lake Maly Akchan. Each shore offers a different pause, and familiar names gradually become memories of places you have reached on foot. Beyond Surovy Pass lies Alla-Askyr; the eastern section brings you to Lake Kyrgyz. Chernorechensky Pass turns attention back towards the northern valleys. A thoughtful plan for the stages and overnight stops gives these lakes time of their own. Discuss how to connect the stages and return with a local guide before committing to the journey.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Ask the operator about its booked Gorno-Altaysk to Multa transfer. The published service belongs to a mountain programme: confirm whether a separate booking is possible, along with the date and return journey. A scheduled service directly to the walking start has not been established.
By car
Plan road access through Ust-Koksa towards Multa and Maralnik, then clarify the final approach with your host. The sections across Kuyguk and Surovy are mountain walking stages. Reaching the valley by road does not provide vehicle access across them.
Parking
A specific parking place for leaving a vehicle throughout the hike has not been confirmed. Ask your host about authorised options before travelling. Guarding, charges and conditions for storage over several days are unknown.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 1732 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Kuyguk and Surovy call for mountain preparation. Discuss the published pass grades, the skills required and appropriate equipment with a guide. Snow and stony sections change with conditions. Avoid a pass in poor visibility, and do not choose a river crossing simply because the water appears shallow. Agree a continuous plan for the stages beforehand.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 19 h 44 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Lakes and passes | Several days with a weather reserve Divide the journey by authorised overnight stops and the group’s ability. Leave early for the passes and allow spare time for conditions. The duration of a complete commercial programme cannot automatically describe this variant; settle the number of days after agreeing the stages, access and exit.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose the summer mountain season after asking local guides about pass snow and river crossings. Sunshine in the valley does not guarantee a dry pass. Shorter autumn daylight makes warm clothing and a generous reserve more valuable.
