Route description

The Small Overview Loop introduces Aktru through Lake Sachki, the waterfall below the Dome of Three Lakes and river crossings. Starting beside the alpine camp, you gradually leave everyday concerns for stony slopes and water. Sachki offers an early unhurried pause, while the waterfall section opens the landscape. The Galina Afanasyeva Memorial recalls the people who came to these mountains and became part of the valley’s history. This is a complete walk returning to the camp. It gives you a sense of a glacial valley without requiring a walk onto the ice or a climb of Kupol. The waterfall varies considerably, so enjoy the whole setting instead of expecting a powerful flow alone. On the return side, Bolshaya Aktru and Maly Aktru Stream add their own sounds and rhythm.

Nearby

Reaching the tongue of Maly Aktru Glacier involves an additional approach beyond the southern side of this circuit. Ask the camp about the current ice edge and safe stopping distance. The Memory Stone also requires a separate climb. Choose Tronov’s Hut, Blue Lake and Uchitel Pass according to your available time and preparation.

Getting there

Without a car
Book transport via Kuray beforehand. The alpine camp arranges city transfers followed by off-road transport into the valley. Confirm availability for your day when booking. A scheduled service directly to the overview loop has not been confirmed.
By car
Approach Kuray along the Chuysky Trakt, then use prearranged prepared transport. The camp access involves rough sections and river fords. Do not treat driving independently into the valley as a routine part of this walk.
Parking
The camp lists paid guarded parking in Kuray. Arrange a place together with your transfer and check the current conditions and charge. Parking directly beside the overview circuit has not been confirmed.
