Route description

Planning notice: the Uchar route is closed for the 2026 season. The administration’s end-of-season notice reports that crossings and safety cables have been removed from difficult sections. Plan a visit only after an official reopening and confirmation that the route equipment has been restored. Uchar is a destination approached in the company of rivers. From the Chulyshman, the path enters Chulcha Valley and crosses the Artyshtu before reaching the Great Chulchinsky Waterfall. Following these rivers gives the final stop a sense of arrival: the cascade belongs to the valley you have walked through. Once visits resume, allow time to watch from the authorised viewpoint and return without rushing.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 300 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски The route is closed for the 2026 season; removed crossings and cables cannot be treated as functioning protection. After an official reopening, attend the briefing and check every crossing. The reserve prohibits departure in rain or fog. Take care on rocks and beside water; do not invent an approach to the upper cascade by scrambling over river stones.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 2 h 54 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Uchar and the return | A full daylight outing after reopening The reserve estimates at least three and a half hours from the boat crossing to the waterfall in one direction alone. The return, waterfall stop and boat wait need additional time. Agree a turnaround limit and the return crossing beforehand. Do not plan the walking day while the seasonal closure remains in force.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
The published season is June to September, but visits ended early in 2026 because of bear activity. A calendar month does not provide permission to walk. A future visit needs an official reopening, restored crossings and dry weather with good visibility.
