Route description

This short path links the Barom-Gol side with the right-bank route along the Arkhat. It is useful for walkers already within the mountain valleys who want to change direction without descending to the rivers’ confluence. Its setting is intimate: a wooded connection, turns across the slope and the approach to the Arkhat’s canyon valley. The Arkhat is the main natural landmark near the finish. Continuing along its right bank belongs to a separate journey, so lakes and waterfalls should not be expected within this connection alone. Include it in a prepared mountain itinerary: the short local stage lies far from motor access and does not provide the approach from a settlement.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
The path is intended for prepared independent mountain walkers. Its short length does not imply easy access from a village. Unclear sections and remoteness make it unsuitable for an ordinary family stroll, bicycle or stroller.

Nearby

The Barom-Gol–Arkhat confluence, Arkhat waterfall and lakes lie on other parts of the valley. Visiting them requires additional walking and route checks. Khubutsky Pass is also outside this short connection. Check permitted access across the protected areas of your wider itinerary and register the mountain outing under current requirements.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Public transport to the start is unconfirmed. This section begins inside the mountain area; arriving at a lower settlement does not deliver you to the path. Plan the walking approach to Barom-Gol and the subsequent exit separately.
By car
Vehicle access to the start is unconfirmed. Both ends belong to mountain walking routes. Agree where the driving part of your wider journey will end, without assuming that a vehicle can reach this connection.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. Ask where a vehicle may be left near the lower access point for the whole journey.

What to expect

Places
Arkhat River at the end of the connection — The named mountain river beside the connection’s right-bank finish gives the place its canyon-valley setting. A descent to the water, crossing and waterfall are outside this section.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 18 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски The path may be indistinct, so keep the Arkhat right-bank direction in mind. Nearby canyon sections make shortcuts down steep banks or through the riverbed unsuitable. Passage over the connection in the present season is unconfirmed. Assess crossings elsewhere in your itinerary separately: this connection establishes no safe ford across the Arkhat.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 35 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Treat the connection as a local stage within a larger hike. A verified walking time is not established; allow for navigation, rest and present conditions. The distant approach from the Tunka Basin and the complete exit are additional. A journey to the Arkhat lakes requires its own schedule.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose snow-free conditions with good visibility and confirmed path conditions. After rain, reassess the slope and the rivers involved in the wider itinerary. Autumn cold or snow can change the character of this short stage. A maintained winter version is unconfirmed.
