Route description

East of Novogodniy Pass, the horse trail towards Zhalga crosses wooded mountain slopes. The walking rhythm changes as spurs bring another rise or descent and gullies turn the path in a new direction. This is a distinct forest passage through the valley surroundings, with the journey itself providing the interest. This version heads towards Zhalga and ends at the valley-side beginning of the trail back towards Novogodniy. Its appeal lies in the succession of slopes and small valleys traversed by local paths. Reaching the pass saddle belongs to a separately prepared continuation. Include the passage in a mountain itinerary with the approach and onward exit already arranged. That preparation leaves time to notice the forest route while retaining enough energy for the journey beyond its end.
