Route description

Arshan Peak is visible from the village of the same name, although approaching it reveals a different mountain scale. The village section passes the Kyngarga before attention turns to the slope leading towards the southern ridge. As the summit draws nearer, the resort falls below and Arshan itself becomes the clear objective. This version ends at the peak. Treat it as a substantial ascent in its own right, with both the forest approach and upper mountain ground deserving attention. The author’s initial route choice needs a permitted approach clarified before departure so that the ascent follows a prepared plan. For an experienced group, the journey offers a closer understanding of Arshan’s mountain setting. Choose settled conditions and preserve energy for returning: time at the summit is easier to enjoy when the onward plan is already agreed.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Buses reach Arshan from Irkutsk and Ulan-Ude. Confirm the current departure and arrival point with the operator; Arshan Bus Ticket Office Stop is a reference near the village approach. Getting from arrival to this version’s start is separate. Allow generously for descending and catching return transport, or arrange a village overnight stay.
By car
Use Arshan’s village roads to reach an agreed drop-off location, then continue on foot into the mountains. There is no planned vehicle pickup at the summit. Choose a permitted descent and return to the village before leaving the car.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 1753 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски An experienced mountain group is needed. The author reports taking the wrong early path and walking off-trail until a stream; clarify a permitted approach before travel rather than automatically repeating it. Upper ground, steep sections and the descent require assessment under current conditions. Graded climbing routes on Arshan do not establish this version’s technical grade. Prepare permitted passage, appropriate protection, communication and a turn-back option, and obtain national park permission.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 5 h 13 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
A verified duration for the full ascent and descent is unavailable. This version only reaches the summit. Add the transport approach, rest, permitted descent and weather reserve separately. A one-day label does not establish that every full outing fits daylight. Agree a turn-back time as part of the group’s prepared plan.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
For walking, prefer settled snow-free conditions after checking the slopes. Fresh snow, ice, wet rock and poor visibility change the ascent. Winter travel needs a separate technical and weather plan. Check park restrictions before departure.
