Route description

Komarovo Shore begins this journey, while the lake woods of the Karelian Isthmus provide several different days and moods. From the Primorskoye Highway side, the walk rises through old summer-house surroundings and a wooded slope, passes the remains of Chizhov Fountain and continues towards Shchuchye Lake. Brusnichnaya Hill and the neighbouring paths reveal the local terrain: sandy rises alternate with forest hollows even though the sea is still nearby. Druzhinnoye, Bolshoye and Maloye Simaginskoye, followed by Dlinnoye Lake, offer distinct shores. A wooden chapel of St Innocent of Irkutsk stands beside Bolshoye Simaginskoye, while Dlinnoye retains traces of former sanatorium life. This version adds woodland loops, returns to a familiar lake side and ends on the northern woodland continuation near Dlinnoye. Yalkala Museum remains a separate visit. Choose accommodation and arrange the finishing exit in advance: the journey ends among forest paths rather than on a railway platform.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - With caution With a dog - No data By bike - No data With a stroller - No data Mobile signal - No data For travellers prepared for a prolonged woodland walk. With children, choose manageable portions separately and arrange lodging beforehand. Confirm dog and stroller conditions separately for each protected area and leisure site; older leaflets do not replace current rules.

Nearby

Yalkala Museum Reserve and the Parviainen house require a separate approach; walking near Ilyichyovo does not include museum entry. The Black Lakes and Two Sisters are associated with Lammin-Suo and remain away from this woodland passage; do not cut across the prohibited bog to reach them. Komarovo Cemetery and other literary locations can be visited on another walk. Veresk’s operator publishes free daytime park admission; meals, lodging and additional services are separate choices.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
For the southern departure, take a train from Finland Station to Komarovo, followed by an approach towards Primorskoye Highway. The station is not the starting point itself. The directorate publishes return bus directions from Ilyichyovo to Zelenogorsk, but this version finishes farther north among woodland paths. Arrange a reliable exit to a chosen stop or local collection in advance; a regular service beside the actual endpoint is unconfirmed.
By car
Reach the Komarovo Shore starting side via Primorskoye or Zelenogorskoye Highway. Arrange separate collection or a permitted exit to a public road after the northern finish; driving directly to the woodland endpoint is unconfirmed. Shchuchye Lake Reserve confines cars to authorised road sections, while Komarovo Shore prohibits vehicle movement outside Primorskoye Highway.
Parking
The Komarovo Shore directorate identifies designated spaces beside Primorskoye Highway, including near this walk’s southern departure. Use only an available authorised place and check local signs. Parking on Morskaya Street is prohibited. Parking at the woodland finish is unconfirmed; plan how to return to a vehicle left on the southern side.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 655 м.
SurfaceAsphalt 7%, Compacted dirt 3%, Gravel 1%, Unknown 87%.
Риски Rain softens woodland paths, while roots and sandy descents call for secure footwear. Follow existing dry shoreline passages rather than lake inlets, floating bog margins or reeds. Watch your footing beside building remains and avoid ruined interiors. Establish permitted passages at additional woodland junctions and retain spare daylight. Entry to the Lammin-Suo bog itself is prohibited during the snow-free season; this version remains outside its bog surface. Accommodation and fires in protected areas require separately authorised locations.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 15 h 14 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
The exact duration of this multi-day version is unestablished. A day-by-day plan is not established. Divide the journey according to group fitness and agreed accommodation, allowing time for lakes, the chapel and the woodland finishing exit. The directorate’s standard duration is not transferred here: additional loops and repeated approaches change the daily workload. Do not independently designate overnight sites in the reserves.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Dry, snow-free conditions make woodland and lake shores easier to explore; allow spare daylight. Warm weather calls for tick and mosquito protection, and autumn rain for waterproof footwear. The main trail’s year-round availability does not make every additional woodland link equally convenient in winter. Avoid lake ice instead of the shoreline passage, and retain the Lammin-Suo bog’s seasonal prohibition in the trip plan.
