Route description

From the Koksu side, this route heads west through side valleys of Chon-Alay towards Karamyk. Local roads and watercourses shape its character, with the Kyzyl-Ayryk, Tekelik and Jergetal marking different parts of the wider valley. The journey gradually shifts from the outlet of a mountain gorge towards an inhabited borderland. Plan it with a local organiser who can confirm a permitted walking corridor and final collection. The route introduces Chon-Alay through its river valleys and rural connections. Respect farms and cultivated land, stopping beside water only where access is permitted and conditions are safe.
