Route description

This walk begins inside Konorchek and leads through sandstone gullies towards the road entrance by Red Bridge. Look close as well as far: eroded walls, narrow turns and russet cliffs continually change the view. On a dry day, the sandstone stands out against the sky, while the gradual emergence into open ground reveals the scale of the labyrinth. Choose this returning direction after an independently arranged visit to the inner canyons. The approach from the road to the high beginning is additional; the walk does not start at the bridge. It ends near the road entrance without crossing Red Bridge’s vehicle carriageway. Exploring all Konorchek branches needs a different schedule and plan.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - With caution With a dog - No data By bike - No data With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data This is a return from inner gullies, so first arrange an independent canyon approach. Children require safe dry conditions and supervision on short steep steps. Dog rules and complete cycling passage are unestablished. A stroller is unsuitable for gullies and sandy climbs; reception within narrow passages is unconfirmed.

Nearby

View Red Bridge from the permitted roadside arrival area; this walk does not cross it. Kok-Moynok Canyon is elsewhere in Boom Gorge. Konorchek’s alternative entrance and additional inner branches need separately checked plans.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
A current scheduled service directly to the inner beginning is unconfirmed. Arrange transfer to the road entrance by Red Bridge, followed by an independent walking approach. Agree departure beforehand: independent onward travel from the road ending is unestablished.
By car
The vehicle landmark is Red Bridge on the Bishkek–Issyk-Kul road in Boom Gorge. Reach the signposted entrance from a permitted side and ask a local driver about a safe stopping point. The inner beginning lies on foot within the canyons, away from the vehicle bridge.
Parking
The firsthand author describes a small parking area at Konorchek’s entrance near the railway crossing. Check current availability and arrangements before travel. Keep the crossing, access points and carriageway clear; vehicles should not wait in narrow gullies.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 7 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Heavy rain can rapidly make a narrow gully a dangerous flood or mudflow corridor. Avoid entering after downpours and leave narrow walls promptly as weather worsens. Short sandy steps may have ropes: inspect their condition rather than trusting them automatically. At the road ending, keep clear of traffic and the railway crossing.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Time for the route 2.5–3.5 hours
With stops | 3.5–4.5 hours An editorial allowance for returning from the inner canyons to the road in dry weather. Add the approach to the beginning, pauses in other canyon branches and the Bishkek journey separately. Rain risk requires shortening the entire visit.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose a dry spring or autumn day without recent heavy rain. Summer brings heat and little shade in open places. In every season, check rainfall farther up the gorge; a settled dry forecast matters more than attractive light.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Grippy footwear, poles and clothing for sun and wind.
Reserve drinking water, a snack, first-aid kit and headlamp.
Approach mapping, charged phone and arranged transport; bring water rather than relying on the roadside spring.
