Route description

From Chikola, this variation approaches Digoria and gradually draws you into the Kharesidon valley. Divide the substantial road approach into manageable stages, leaving time to notice the change from the plain to close mountain valleys and the different setting of their settlements. Around Madzaska, the upper gorge invites a more attentive walk. Bayradi Waterfall provides the main natural stop. Water and rock sit beside traces of earlier mountain exploration: an old geological adit survives nearby. Examine the cascade from a safe approach without entering the workings. The concluding outing beside the Kharesidon lets you focus on a small part of Digoria after the extended journey towards it.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - No With a dog - No data By bike - No data With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data The complete walk includes a lengthy road approach and a mountain outing. Children need a separately selected short walk with checked conditions. Dog access, full cycling passage and mobile coverage are unconfirmed. Mountain approaches and verges are unsuitable for strollers.

Nearby

Madzaskitsada Lake, the Tana glacier nature trail and other parts of the Kubus circuit require separate approaches. Madzaska village is not the lake itself, and being near Tana does not establish a glacier visit. Check permission and timing for every additional outing.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Regular transport to the precise start and a suitable return service from the finish are unconfirmed. Plan your approach to the beginning and arrange collection in upper Digoria. A short waterfall outing needs its own transfer.
By car
For visiting only the upper section, agree a permitted road drop-off and collection afterwards. Check Digoria roads following heavy precipitation. Do not drive onto the walking approach to the cascade; the complete variation ends far from the original drop-off.
Parking
Dedicated parking facilities at the precise start and the Bayradi approach are not confirmed. Check permission, local signs and charges before leaving a vehicle. Keep roads, entrances and service access clear.

What to expect

Places
Bayradi Waterfall The cascade lies near Mount Kubus, with an old geological adit nearby. View it from safe ground without entering the workings.
Kharesidon River This mountain river runs through upper Digoria, linking the valley to nature outings around Kubus and Tana.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 2467 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Long road stages require attention to traffic, narrow verges and fatigue. Stones around the waterfall may be slippery; avoid unstable cliff bases. Do not enter the old adit: its safety is unconfirmed. Agree the permitted section with the national park and check border documents required for that exact outing. Permission for a neighbouring nature trail does not authorise every mountain slope.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
For the complete walking variation of approximately 58.4 km, allow a multiday outing of 3–4 days
Day 1: start near Chikola and the initial road stage towards Digoria. Day 2: continue towards the upper gorge and Madzaska. Day 3: the remaining approach, Bayradi visit and finish beside the Kharesidon valley. Day 4: weather contingency or an additional division of the long road approach. This is an editorial walking plan; the original publication does not establish that the author walked the entire road approach. Overnight locations and exact day boundaries are unconfirmed and need arranging. A separate short waterfall walk requires its own timing and transfer.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose settled, snow-free summer or early-autumn weather for the long walk. Rain makes the Bayradi stones slippery; postpone viewing in high flow or poor visibility. The author’s January trip is not a recommendation to repeat the complete journey in winter. Confirm current park arrangements beforehand.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Broken-in footwear with reliable grip.
Water and food for each day stage.
Rain protection, warm clothing and sun protection.
A map of permitted approaches, phone, power bank and first-aid supplies.
Identification, required permissions and accommodation and collection contacts.
