Route description

From Jily-Su the selected ascent heads towards Elbrus’s northern camps. Lower mountain meadows give way to a rocky climb, followed by snow and ice. Lenz Rocks mark the upper northern approach, their dark bands standing out against the white slope. The direction then reaches the Eastern summit first, crosses the saddle and finishes on the Western summit. This sequence requires an agreed mountaineering programme and sufficient reserve for a descent still excluded from the selected ascent. An ordinary northern single-summit plan cannot automatically become a two-summit traverse. The outing reveals the great glacier massif from its northern side, but attempts require acclimatization, practical training and confirmation of permitted organized access.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - No With a dog - No By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - Patchy Arrange arrival in Jily-Su and the return after descending before starting. This is a mountaineering ascent for prepared, acclimatized adults in a permitted organized party. The glacier and two summits exclude an ordinary children’s, cycling or stroller outing; a dog is unsuitable for this undertaking. The northern route passport reports reception loss between the saddle and Eastern summit.

Nearby

Sultan Waterfall, Stone Mushrooms and Jily-Su springs are separate lower outings and do not replace acclimatization. A southern descent through huts and cableways is an independent option excluded from the selected ascent.

What to expect

Elbrus West Summit the second summit and upper end of the ascent.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 3547 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Hidden glacier crevasses, snow and ice, wind, cold and lost visibility create serious hazards. Crampons, an ice axe and rope systems require practical training. Do not continue to the second summit merely to complete the intended sequence: party condition and the forecast determine the decision. The northern passport requires organized access, preparation and rescue-service registration; confirm the permitted Western continuation separately.
