Route description

Djulu offers a mountain outing above upper Chegem, where the valley drops away and the open slopes reveal the shape of the surrounding ridges. This version covers upper ascent sections and finishes in the western part of the mountain plateau. Its start is already above the lower gorge; visiting the grotto and Greek Staircase requires a separate approach and is excluded. Confirm the connection between the sections and choose a return descent before setting out. Reaching the separately mapped summit is not promised. With that preparation, the outing can become a rewarding mountain day focused on exploring Djulu rather than insisting on its highest point.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 824 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски A continuous safe passage between the two ascent sections is unconfirmed. Avoid a direct shortcut across steep ground; establish the existing path with a local mountain guide. The gorge approach and return descent also need separate choices. Fog, wind, wet grass and remaining snow change conditions on the open slope; stop before uncertain dangerous ground.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 2 h 30 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Time for the route | Not established With stops | Not established The complete ascent-and-return time has not been established: first confirm the intermediate passage and a safe descent. An organiser allows 7–9 h for a comparable full outing from camp, including the return, but that allowance does not automatically apply to this slope-side start. Short-looking upper sections are not a reason to reduce the safety margin.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose snow-free conditions, dry footing and a settled forecast. Valley weather does not establish wind or cloud conditions on upper Djulu. Early snow or a wet slope are reasons to postpone.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Grippy mountain footwear and familiar poles.
Wind protection, warm layers, waterproofs and sun protection.
Water, food, a headlamp, an offline map of the complete approach and backup power.
