Route description

This route descends from Blue-Eyed Lake to Kardyvach along the Sineozerny valley. It is the return from the upper lake, reached earlier on a mountain outing, rather than a climb from Krasnaya Polyana. Water and the rocky basin hold the attention at the start; farther down, the stream becomes the valley’s reference point, and the walk finishes beside Kardyvach. The two lakes fit into one mountain day while keeping their different settings: an upper bowl and a lower lake valley.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
Link Blue-Eyed Lake with Kardyvach in a clear sequence and finish the upper outing at the lower lake. Leave room to pause beside the water and notice the changing surroundings instead of hurrying straight back to camp. This version works as the return leg of a separately planned climb to Blue-Eyed Lake.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car: Hard With children: With caution With a dog: No data By bike: No With a stroller: No Mobile signal: No data The traverse requires an earlier approach to the upper lake and confident downhill walking. Children need experience on comparable outings and adult supervision; age alone does not establish readiness. Ask the reserve about dogs. This is unsuitable for strollers or an ordinary bike ride. Reliable coverage throughout the traverse has not been established.

Nearby

Upper Kardyvach lies on another radial direction and needs a separate outing. Emerald Waterfall and the main Mzymta valley are also outside this descent between the lakes. Check reserve permission, national park access for the lower approach and applicable border requirements before travel. Arrange an authorised overnight site before the upper outing; camping is restricted to designated locations.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Plan the lower journey through Krasnaya Polyana or Rosa Khutor, followed by separate approaches to Engelman Meadows, Kardyvach and Blue-Eyed Lake. Scheduled transport directly to the lakes has not been confirmed. Arrange the lower transfer, walking stages and return before departure. Reaching the resort does not establish that the upper lake outing fits into the same day.
By car
Finish the car journey at an agreed lower meeting point around Rosa Khutor. The onward approach to Engelman Meadows crosses national park land, with access permission and any transfer arranged separately. Authorised private car access directly to either lake has not been confirmed. This version begins in the mountains after the main approach.
Parking
No verified visitor parking has been established at the start of this descent, beside the upper lake. Choose a car space as part of the agreed lower travel arrangements and confirm whether it can be left throughout the trek. An empty clearing beside a forest road does not establish permission to park.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Take particular care on wet stones and ground beside the water. Snow, fog or high water can make a familiar summer approach unsuitable. Avoid shortcuts across unfamiliar slopes and do not replace the path with the stream channel. Make any decision to turn back while daylight and a clear retreat remain.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 55 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Treat the traverse as part of a day already spent in the lake district. Add the morning climb to Blue-Eyed Lake, pauses and the return to an authorised overnight site near Kardyvach. The main Engelman Meadows approach is additional. If you intend to leave the reserve afterwards, plan the entire lower walk separately, beyond this descent between the lakes.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Visit while the relevant route is officially open and the upper path is suitable. Clear summer weather makes the two lakes easier to explore, but snow and cold are possible outside winter. Check the reserve’s current opening order before travelling; a calendar month alone does not establish access.

What to bring

Warm clothing, rain protection and spare dry layers
Water and food for the whole lake outing
