Route description

The journey from Guloykhi towards Kezenoy-Am introduces mountain Chechnya through valleys and historic places. The initial riverside gives way to changing mountain perspectives, while the Argun and Phakoch Castle appear on the Itum-Kali side. Give the castle courtyard time beyond the pace of a long trek: a pause reveals how stone architecture relates to the surrounding gorge. Farther along, attention turns to the Akhkete, Cheberloy Canyon Viewpoint and Old Hoi. Its restored stone buildings provide another historic pause before the lake-side finish. This is an independent multiday undertaking whose initial access, daily stages and collection need advance arrangements. A neighbouring equipped short walk does not establish conditions throughout the long crossing.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Confirm access to the initial border-region area and required documents before departure. The extended mountain sections need independent navigation, crossing checks and a water reserve. Avoid exposed terrain in thunderstorms or thick fog. Do not enter unstable historic buildings; one neighbouring route designation does not confirm conditions throughout.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 2 d 1 h
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Allow several trekking days, selecting overnight places after checking water and access. Reserve separate time for Phakoch Castle and Old Hoi; weather contingency and an early exit should not depend on the final evening. Neighbouring short outings do not determine the duration of the complete crossing.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose a snow-free period according to current upper-section and crossing conditions. Dry clear weather helps on exposed mountain sides; check snow and overnight temperatures near the season’s edges. Agreed access remains necessary throughout the year.
