Route description

Beside the Five Polish Lakes hut begins a crossing between two different lake amphitheatres of the High Tatras. The path first follows Przedni Staw’s shore, then leaves the water and climbs onto the Świstówka side. This change from an enclosed lake basin to an open mountain slope is a particular pleasure of the passage. It eventually descends to the huts beside Morskie Oko, where water becomes the main landmark again. This is a summer connection between hut areas; visiting every lake and approaching from the valley require separate time.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
The two lake shores give the crossing a clear story: leave the water for the mountain slope, then meet water on the other side. It suits a leisurely day between huts focused on examining both valleys rather than collecting summits.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - With caution With a dog - No By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data The start is already beside a high mountain hut, requiring a prior valley approach. Children need mountain-walking experience and reliably dry conditions. Ordinary dog visits are prohibited by park rules; the stony mountain path is unsuitable for bicycles or strollers. Continuous reception is unconfirmed.

Nearby

Siklawa belongs to a different approach through Roztoka valley, while Szpiglasowa Pass offers another crossing between the lake areas. Czarny Staw beneath Rysy requires an extra climb from Morskie Oko and is excluded here.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 255 м.
SurfaceAsphalt 7%, Unknown 93%.
Риски Stony slopes, open ground and the long descent require secure footing. Wet rock, lingering snow and low cloud substantially change conditions. Check the park’s Świstówka notices before departure, use the permitted path and finish in daylight.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Time for the route 2–3 h
With stops | 3–4 h This covers the crossing from the Five Polish Lakes hut area to the northern Morskie Oko hut. The approach, descent to Palenica and any valley transfer are excluded. A separate mountain day between booked huts works well; a valley-based outing without an overnight stay needs its own complete day plan.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
The hut operator lists Świstówka’s summer period from mid-May to late November. This calendar does not promise a snow-free path; early and late outings can encounter winter conditions. Ordinary walking requires dry ground and a settled forecast.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
