Route description

The Mała Łąka valley opens gradually. A woodland path from Gronik reaches the northern edge of Wielka Polana Małołącka, where trees give way to an open meadow. Pause to look at the mountains framing the valley before returning along the familiar path. This walk introduces the Western Tatras without taking you onto high ridges. Its appeal is watching a wooded valley unfold into a mountain meadow, without needing to hurry towards another pass.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Published buses serve Gronik. Children need suitable footwear and the stamina to walk out and back. TPN prohibits dogs here and does not list this valley as a permitted cycling direction. Continuous stroller suitability and reliable mobile coverage are unconfirmed.

Nearby

Przysłop Miętusi and Grzybowiec are separate continuations beyond this return walk. Recalculate time and check maintenance sections before extending it. Giewont is not visited and requires its own complete mountain plan.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Zakopane’s 2026 municipal departure table lists buses through Gronik towards Kiry. Choose the stop by the Mała Łąka valley entrance and check the return service. Include the short approach from the stop in your plan; the walk itself does not require a car.
By car
Drive towards the Mała Łąka entrance in the Gronik area, then continue on foot along the marked park trail. A tourist walking line does not authorise vehicle access into the valley.
Parking
Current conditions for a specific car park at the Mała Łąka entrance are unconfirmed. Ask where parking is permitted and how it is paid for before travelling; do not assume roadside spaces are legal because another valley has parking.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 229 м.
SurfaceFine gravel 82%, Unknown 18%.
Риски Stones and ground become slippery after rain. Stay on the path and avoid an unplanned continuation to Giewont, which is a separate mountain outing. At review, TPN warns of work farther along the Wielka Polana Małołącka–Grzybowiec direction; check this before adding any extension. From March to November, finish before dusk.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 1 h 37 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Allow roughly two to three hours from Gronik to the northern meadow edge and back, including a pause. This editorial estimate applies to the short return walk, excluding summits and loops through neighbouring passes. Add time for children or wet conditions.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose a dry, snow-free day in spring, summer or early autumn. Consult the TPN bulletin first: lower paths can also be wet or icy. Winter needs a separate assessment of snow and equipment; an uncomplicated summer walk is not proof of an easy winter outing.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Footwear with a grippy sole.
Water, snack and a small rubbish bag.
Waterproof outer layer and warm clothing.
Offline map, phone and torch for an unexpected delay.
