Route description

From Siwa Polana, Chochołowska valley leads to a broad pastoral meadow and mountain hut. Rock gates punctuate the approach, alongside Huciska, whose name recalls an old metalworking centre. A memorial at Niżnia Brama remembers the uprising of Chochołów’s inhabitants. Beyond the woodland valley walk, Polana Chochołowska opens with its pastoral heritage, and the outing can finish beside the hut. Spring crocuses make the meadow famous, while other seasons still reveal how human history sits within this mountain setting.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Published buses serve Siwa Polana. Families need stamina for the complete return walk. TPN permits leashed dogs on the main valley path to the hut and bikes on the green road, with pushing where necessary on rocky ground. Assess large-wheel strollers against paving and uneven sections. Coverage is unconfirmed.

Nearby

The chapel of St John the Baptist stands on a separate meadow path, outside this main line. Grześ, Rakoń, Wołowiec and Trzydniowiański are independent mountain continuations. Check their conditions separately; a valley day does not require adding a summit.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 256 м.
SurfacePaving stones 50%, Asphalt 38%, Gravel 5%.
Риски The lower road has asphalt before Huciska; beyond it, the surface is stony and partly paved. Take care on wet stones and bridges. Cyclists must give pedestrians priority and dogs must remain leashed. Stay off flower meadows and do not extend valley permissions to summits or side paths.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 2 h 20 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
The official valley guide gives roughly two and a half hours uphill and two hours back. With pauses at the gates and meadow, plan about five to seven hours for the return outing. A hut night requires a separate reservation and is optional for this day walk.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
A snow-free summer or autumn day is convenient for a relaxed outing. Spring crocus flowering follows snowmelt and weather rather than a fixed date. In winter, check valley surfaces and the TPN bulletin; an obvious lower road does not establish ice-free ground farther up.

Footwear with a grippy sole and appropriate spare socks.
Water, food and clothing for a full day.
Rain protection and a warm layer.
