Route description

Khmelevsky Lakes lie on a wooded Achishkho spur, where water gathers in shallow hollows among mountain forest. This extended outing first follows lower paths above Krasnaya Polyana, then climbs to the Tsar 1425 gazebo and the lake area. Beside Bolshoye and Vostochnoye, notice how shoreline vegetation changes the pattern of the water; the national park describes these lakes as closed basins fed by precipitation and melting snow. The finish reaches Khmelevsky Viewpoint. Arrange the return from the upper area in advance: visiting the lakes does not automatically bring the walk back to its village entrance.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - No With a dog - With caution By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data A lower approach is possible from the village, but the extended outing and upper return need a long day or prearranged delivery. It is not recommended as an ordinary children’s walk. Hunting dog breeds are prohibited in the national park, which strongly discourages other pets. Cycling, stroller access and uninterrupted coverage are unconfirmed.

Nearby

Yuzhnoye Lake lies off the actual passage and needs a separate permitted approach. Zerkalnoye and the Achipse waterfalls lie on a farther mountain direction outside this outing. Keiva also requires another path: a waterfall sign near the lower area does not mean this version visits it.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Plan arrival in Krasnaya Polyana and walk to the chosen lower entrance. A specific regular service to the upper finish at Khmelevsky Viewpoint is unconfirmed. Arrange the upper return or add an independent descent before setting out.
By car
Unrestricted private vehicle access on the upper woodland road to every lake section is unconfirmed. Agree delivery to a permitted upper site with the national park; a dirt road alone does not grant driving permission.
Parking
Specific permitted vehicle parking for the start and upper finish of this version is unconfirmed. Establish lawful arrangements and return delivery before travelling.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 1720 м.
SurfaceDirt 43%, Gravel 30%, Asphalt 5%, Unknown 20%.
Риски Woodland junctions, wet roots and repeated passages need attention. Heavy rain and fog complicate the upper section, while winter snow covers the lake slope. Respect shoreline vegetation and keep out of wet hollows. Unauthorised overnight camps are excluded in this park area; plan the return beforehand.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 8 h 59 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Allow roughly eight to eleven hours for the complete extended outing on dry ground, adding the lower approach and return from the upper finish separately. Descending to the village on foot may add several hours, so a full day is realistic only with carefully planned delivery or a shorter permitted outing. Autumn daylight is insufficient for assuming a full traverse followed by a late descent. An improvised woodland overnight stay is excluded.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Stable, snow-free weather with long daylight is preferable. Water levels and visible lake surfaces vary in summer, and the shore may look different in autumn. The cadastre records winter freezing and snow; this is not a routine extension of the summer walk. Check upper-road and path access with the national park.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Grippy footwear and poles.
Water and food for a long day.
Rain protection, warm layer and torch.
