Route description

Begin at Komna Lodge, then follow an expanded crossing towards Triglav Lakes Hut. Mountain connections and several returns over familiar passages give this version more time within its corner of the Julian Alps. Matej Koblar’s memorial plaque provides an early stop, while the walk finishes at the exterior of the lakeside hut. The lower Triglav Lakes Valley is associated with karst terrain and the legend of Zlatorog. Reaching the first lodge from the road and descending after the finish are separate parts of the journey.

Route at a glance

Главное за минуту
Spend time in the mountain country between two huts, noticing changes in the slopes and rocky hollows. Repeated approaches make this version longer than the usual connection and extend the time spent in the upland landscape. The memorial plaque near the departure adds a historical stop to a walk through Komna.

Nearby

Double Lake beside the finishing hut and the valley’s further lakes require their own shore visits. All seven lakes are beyond the stops established for this outing. Savica Waterfall belongs to a lower visit before the ascent or after descending. Neighbouring visible peaks and Triglav’s summit involve other routes.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
The lodge operator recommends lower arrival at Ukanc followed by a walking approach through Savica. Services directly to Savica are infrequent or absent outside the season, and the published 2026 summer calendar has ended. Check your specific journey in the SiMO planner and allow for the separate ascent. An independent descent to the road follows the finishing hut.
By car
Drive through Ukanc to the Savica road area, then approach Komna on foot. Komna Lodge is a mountain departure reached by a separate ascent. Its freight cableway does not provide a passenger ride. After finishing at the Triglav lakes, organise your own walking return to the parked vehicle.
Parking
P9 Parking at Savica is paid, with a barrier and card payment. It serves the lower approach below the selected hut-to-hut crossing. Check the current tariff and prolonged-parking conditions under the arrangements introduced in August2026. Waterfall admission is charged separately. There is no vehicle parking in the mountain section.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceGravel 80%, Dirt 3%, Unknown 17%.
Риски Sustained walking on uneven mountain ground, sloping passages and careful junction choices are the main challenges. Repeating an otherwise straightforward connection adds fatigue. Children need confident mountain-walking experience. Keep dogs on a lead and confirm hut overnight admission separately. Swimming in the lakes is prohibited, and tents are allowed only in permitted places.

How much time to allow

Расчётное время в пути 9 h 47 min

Timing for the entire expanded outing has not been established; the usual short connection between the huts does not describe this version with returns. Calculate the separate Komna ascent and exit after the finishing building, with daylight in reserve. On12October2026, Triglav Lakes Hut is closed. Komna Lodge is currently open, with an operator-announced break from1November to14December; reserve any overnight stay ahead.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Prefer dry, snow-free summer or early-autumn conditions when the chosen mountain connections are accessible. Check both hut calendars separately: Komna has a late-autumn break, and the lakes hut closes seasonally. Fresh snow and ice change an ordinary summer walk. Short autumn days matter particularly for this expanded version.
