Route description

From Héas, the route climbs toward Hourquette de Héas and Hourquette de Chermentas, then reaches the Barroude lakes beneath the border mountains. The French side ends at Port de Barroude, called Puerto de Barrosa in Spanish. Beyond it, the path enters the Barrosa cirque and descends toward the road. The contrast between a lake plateau and a long Spanish valley gives this HRP stage its character. Its road finish lies above Parzán village, so arrange pickup at the Barrosa exit itself.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
No scheduled bus service is confirmed directly to the starting point in Héas. Book a ride to the start and pickup at the Barrosa road exit; reaching the lower settlements requires a separate transfer where necessary.
By car
Approach the start through the Héas valley and the Spanish finish from A-138. They lie on different sides of the border, so getting back to your car requires a separate transfer plan.
Parking
Ask locally about permitted car storage in Héas. An A-138 verge is not established visitor parking; agreed drop-off and pickup are more practical.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 1890 м.
SurfaceImproved surface 17%, Asphalt 11%, Dirt 2%, Unknown 70%.
Риски Successive high passes leave little spare time if weather deteriorates. Snow-covered passages require suitable equipment and experience. Barroude’s old refuge burned down; a reconstruction programme does not establish an available overnight bed.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Time for the route 10–12 h
With stops | 2 days The planning allowance covers Héas to the road exit of the Barrosa valley. Splitting it requires an agreed permitted overnight site: an operating Barroude refuge has not been established. Reaching Parzán village takes an additional exit.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose a summer window when the passes are passable. Check lingering snow before departure; the first autumn storm can alter the entire crossing.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Bring footwear for stony mountain paths and wind protection.
Carry spare food and water treatment.
An overnight plan needs an independent equipment list compatible with national-park rules.
