Route description

This high HRP variant leaves the Aguilous hut area for Col de la Sède, then Col de la Géla and Pic de la Géla’s summit. It finishes at Hourquette de Héas, where a different mountain stage can continue. The sequence of cols and summit gives the outing its character: following a familiar valley path is not enough here. It suits walkers interested in the high rim of the Troumouse district who can choose a route through scree. The Barroude lakes lie beyond the mountain walls and are not included in this high outing.

Route suitability

Кому будет комфортно
Without a car - Hard With children - No With a dog - No By bike - No With a stroller - No Mobile signal - No data The relatively short high section requires experience on scree and rocky ground. Aguilous hut first needs a walking approach. Dogs are prohibited in the national-park core.

Nearby

Barroude lakes and the Chermentas crossing belong to a separate continuation. Troumouse cirque can be visited on another outing from the lower road after returning to the valley.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
Organise access to the Héas valley, then walk up to Aguilous. Scheduled transport to the high start or pass finish is not established. Returning into the valley is additional to this upper section.
By car
A car is useful only for the lower Héas approach. No vehicle reaches Aguilous hut or Hourquette de Héas; plan the approach and exit as separate walking sections.
Parking
Ask in Héas about permitted car storage. Parking at the high points is not established; a through-continuation requires a separate pickup in another valley.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainДанные по набору высоты уточняются.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски Expect partly indistinct paths, scree and a steep climb to the ridge; hands may be needed near the summit. Mist or wet rock adds difficulty. This variant is not an easy bypass of the main HRP.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Time for the route 4–6 h
With stops | 6–8 h This allowance covers only the high section from Aguilous through Sède, Géla and the summit to Hourquette de Héas. Add the climb from Héas and descent back into the valley; the full outing from a road is substantially longer.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose a settled summer day after checking the upper ridge. Snow or poor visibility requires reconsideration; autumn especially needs a margin for the entire valley descent.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Bring mountain footwear and a warm windproof layer.
Carry water and food for the whole day including the approach.
Save an offline map; one summit marker does not resolve the rocky passage.
