Route description

This walk begins on the western approach side of the Valley of Ghosts by Yuri Nikulin’s walnut tree. It passes among rock formations, descends along a southern branch, returns from it and continues towards the valley’s eastern side. It finishes on a mountain slope: returning to a road or village needs separate preparation. This is a passage through a specific rock landscape with a returning side branch. South Demerdzhi’s upper summit is outside this version. Changing silhouettes of stone pillars and the named tree near the start provide the main interest. Steep ground and loose rock require care around the formations; avoid walls and do not climb the stone figures. Check the permitted passage and current reserve restrictions beforehand.
