Route description

The ascent begins on Iograf’s lower wooded side above Yalta and follows the ridge trail to the surface entrances of its cave complex. Higher up it passes beside the smaller cave and finishes at the larger cave’s entrance area. This is an approach to a specific cave location, rather than a crossing of the plateau. Underground halls and the return descent require separate planning. The slope has rocky bends and exposed edges before the trail reaches the upper rock locations. The agency permits Iograf only with a contracted instructor-guide and a permit. Agree the selected finish, entrance-area conditions and permitted descent to the exit.

Route suitability

For prepared walkers with an instructor-guide and permit. Dogs and vehicles are prohibited within the reserve. Entering caves requires separate agreement.

Cave interiors and their medieval remains require a separately agreed visit. The agency notes different numbering of the larger and smaller caves across sources. Uzenbash-Bogaz lies away from the upper cave branch; a plateau crossing is outside the programme. Captain’s Bridge viewpoint is on another side passage.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 919 м.
SurfaceТип покрытия пока не определён.
Риски The sustained climb follows a wooded slope with stones and bends. Avoid shortcuts across steep terrain. Check safe edges and stone conditions at cave entrances; do not enter without a separate permitted plan. The upper finish does not complete the exit to a road.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 2 h 42 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Complete duration with the external approach and return is unknown. Assess the ascent, surface entrance areas and entire descent with the guide; preserve daylight. Underground exploration and a plateau crossing are outside this version.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Choose dry walking conditions after checking opening, permit and forecast. Rain complicates stones and woodland ground. Fog hides upper landmarks and snow and ice require programme changes.

What to bring

Базовый список для комфортного похода
Mountain footwear and poles, rain and wind protection.
Warm clothing, water, food and first aid.
Map of the agreed ascent and descent, light and spare power.
