Route description

In Kotelsky Reserve, this circuit brings together Kopanskoye Lake’s shore, forest roads beside Peipiya and the Koporye Bay coast of the Gulf of Finland. Water and woodland continually change scale: the lake side and small river give way to open coastal space. Sand, pines and shore vegetation make the walk particularly rewarding on a clear day. The circuit returns to its roadside, includes short repeated approaches and leaves room for water-side pauses. Coastal remains of the former fishing harbour can be observed; a complete breakwater walk and sanatorium visits are unpromised. Strong onshore wind may raise Peipiya and obstruct passage, so check current conditions beforehand.

Koporye Bay coast an actual approach to open water and coastal sand, with opportunities to observe shore birds.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 56 м.
SurfaceDirt 43%, Improved surface 10%, Asphalt 9%, Unknown 36%.
Риски Woodland ground may have puddles, while the coast brings wind and wet sand. Peipiya is sensitive to wind-driven water: the directorate recorded dangerous inundation during strong wind, but that historical warning does not describe current conditions. Turn back along an accessible side if water blocks a crossing. Swimming, drinking-water suitability and passage along the complete breakwater are unconfirmed.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 1 h 51 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Allow approximately2–3hours with lake, river and coastal pauses. This is an editorial estimate for the circuit and its short repeated approaches; official main-route duration is not transferred without accounting for pauses. Arrange arrival, transport waiting and additional harbour viewing separately.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
Snow-free months with calm weather are easier. The directorate identifies April to early June and August to early November for migrating-bird observation. Winter walking requires checked woodland and river passage; travelling on ice is excluded.
