Route description

From the Bolshoye Kuzyomkino side, the walk heads through woodland to Narva Bay, then continues among old fortifications on the southern Kurgalsky Peninsula. Pine areas, damp black-alder surroundings and sandy landforms bring variety to the water approach. Military history stands beside the paths in actual concrete firing structures, rather than only accounts of an earlier defensive line. This variant has its own pattern: after the gulf stop, it explores southern woodland roads with return branches, then heads back towards the village. View fortifications externally, avoiding unknown chambers and damaged passages. Kurgalsky Reserve admission is paid; establish present payment and restrictions with the directorate. Check documentation separately for border-area travel, since reserve payment does not replace it.

Nearby

The surrounding woods contain pillboxes 104, 105, 107 and 108, plus the Ki-15 reinforced-concrete firing point. Their individual approaches and safety are unestablished by this passage; map proximity does not authorise entry. The operator describes relict dunes, but a dune information board does not establish a separate viewing area. Lipovskoye Lake, Vybya and Luga Bay belong to other reserve outings.

Getting there

Варианты и важные моменты Show on map
Without a car
The regional 2024–2026 transport list confirms route 73a from Kingisepp via Pulkovo to Bolshoye Kuzyomkino. Verify the present service, alighting point and return time before travelling. A separate approach connects village-side transport with the eastern woodland departure; a direct service to this precise departure is unconfirmed.
By car
Choose Bolshoye Kuzyomkino in Kingisepp District and an outside roadside approach towards the village’s woodland-side departure. Continue the main outing on foot. The directorate prohibits driving beyond public roads and leaving vehicles outside designated places, including protected waterside areas. Establish border documentation and vehicle-access conditions beforehand.
Parking
Parking is unconfirmed. The operator places departure near Bolshoye Kuzyomkino but establishes no public parking area at this eastern point. Identify lawful standing outside protected paths before travelling; avoid choosing coast or woodland branches for your vehicle.

Difficult sections and safety

На что обратить внимание
Elevation gainСуммарный набор высоты — 56 м.
SurfaceSand 64%, Unknown 36%.
Риски Long woodland passages, sand and damp ground can tire walkers despite the gentle terrain. Fortifications have openings, damaged concrete and edges concealed by grass. Stay outside and avoid trenches without a safe authorised passage. Account for wind and high coastal water; shorten the outing during flooding instead of bypassing through water.

How much time to allow

Оцените свой темп
Расчётное время в пути 4 h 32 min
С запасом на остановки + 30–60 мин
Allow approximately 4–5 hours for this variant, the coastal pause and repeated southern branches. This is an editorial estimate: the published main-route 2.5 hours is not transferred to the extended passage. Add arrival, the transport-to-departure approach and return waiting separately.

Best time to go

Сезонность и рекомендации
The operator describes the main trail as suitable year-round, but choose this outing according to woodland surfaces and coastal weather. Snow-free conditions reveal structures and sandy landforms. Summer requires insect protection, while autumn calls for waterproof footwear. Avoid gulf ice and snow-covered openings in winter.
